About 8 months ago my partner I had a shop with found this little gem on Facebook market place for 150 didn't run had hydras dry rotted tires and had sat for a few years 5 maybe not sure exactly.

when we picked it up we put a battery in it and drove it away stopped at nearest oriellys bought an alternator for it and installed it drove it to our shop. I decided after going over it I wanted it and bought it from him.
things the previous owner had done to it were.

TLOA 6800 rpm chips both ezk and ECU with gold ezk and 954 ECU installed.
adjustable boost controller set at 14psi
3-inch downpipe with 3-inch cat and mandrel bends to side exit underneath passenger rear door.

I sadly am horrible with taking pictures of during mods and repairing etc so there will not be too many of those pictures.
things I have done to it are:
3inch exhaust from cat to a Flowmaster muffler out the back. still rumbled nicely especially when you put it to the floor.
IPD turbo cam with adjustable cam gear set at TDC for the time being.
removed the entire intercooler setup as I had purchased from 2manyturbos a complete swap of the 900 series intercooler ac and radiator setup. installed all of that I am still looking for a good wiring harness for the engine compartment mine is ok just doesn't have the necessary wiring for the new ac switches which are on the condenser not the hardlines like the 740s are.
I also bought from Roy an aw71l my aw71 output shaft was shot and the l is super nice it's essentially like another gear that makes a huge difference on the highway.
bought front and rear ipd sways from another gentleman here in portland and I also bought an ipd lower chassis brace when ipd had them in stock.
all new front control arm bushings with ipd polys
took the kybs out of the coilovers and put them in mine for the time being.
New fpr new power stage
I have also replaced the injectors with ones off a 94 940t
distributor cap rotor wires spark plugs timing belt and tensioner and crank gear were replaced when I did the cam and also the water pump, oh and when I put the 9 series ic and radiator setup in I had to remove the oil cooler and get one that was water-cooled so got that all sorted out as well. I also have the efan setup on a sender that I bought from det17.
I bought the oem rear spoiler off of thony here and used some 3m double sided tape its not going anywhere.
the wheels I bought from a guy here in portland paid 400 for them they came off a ford escape 2016 17x8 bought some h&r adapters from IPD 25mm tires are brand new Yokohama yk740 gtx 215/50/17s I have about 2mm of clearance from the strut housing so perfect fit lol
I Installed the stereo I had in my 245 wich was a pioneer head unit with a single solo baric 12l7 in an Atrends ported box and a single p1 kicker 10 in an atrends ported box and a Pheonix gold xs 6600 5 channel amp and a jl500 2 channel amp with an active crossover unit and 2-farad capacitor with some 5.25 orion 3 way speakers in the doors. It pushes enough bass that your hair moves when your sitting in the car. I also have a 250 amp circuit breaker in the engine compartment on the 0 gauge power wire that runs to the trunk. I have dynamat in the trunk all over and have some dynamat I need to put in the doors yet and under the carpet as well.
after I put the wheels on I have had to resort to going to gas stations late at night as I get swamped by people wanting to buy my car lol.

things I have to do yet
install the synapse bov I bought from thony
install the electric dual stage boost controller I also bought from thony
install the coil overs I found at a pick and pull here in portland
find an engine compartment wiring harness from a 9series in good working order.
tint the windows
here are some pics of it now.

there is not a spot of rust anywhere or has the car ever been hit interior everything works heated seat mirrors sunroof no leaks either leather is slightly cracked on driver's seat but immaculate everywhere else.
I am still trying to figure out which turbo I want to upgrade to I will also need to get new chips burned since I have changed the ic and put an ipd turbo cam in. I want to run at least 21psi.
at the point, it sits now it's a tire smoker that pulls hard past *** I am sure it will go faster but at the time I ran out of road well clear road doubt I could find any clear patches this late in the pandemic to test it now.
I am sure i am forgetting a few things ill update when I remember them.

I replaced the steering rack this weekend it had a huge leak in the original one which was a cam rack I was only able to find a ZF rack at the pick and pull. and now after having it aligned it seems there is no soft spot/dead spot in the steering when you're cruising straight down the road so it wants to move whenever you move the wheel slightly ill need to figure out how to adjust that out.

I also saw the rear diff is now leaking due to sitting so I will need to get a rear diff pinion seal and cover seal.
and now that I got the power steering leak fixed the turbo is leaking oil at the feed or return line. I will have to get crush washers for the oil feed and the seal for the return line on it.

I also need new chips burned for the ECU and ezk I get pinging when I hit the gas at low rpm now I was aware this would happen with all the upgrades I have done since I bought it and the chips that are in it were set up for the old setup on the car. IE no turbo cam and a smaller ic setup
one bad thing about dailying your project is you end up having to do so many little things to keep it runing daily. eh oh well I will never get tired of roasting someone with a newer car and they catch up and are all slack jawed because god dam grandpas 4 door rip's.

welp I cursed myself with the comment about dailying your project on i205 today just before the ipd exit my rear end started howling. turns out it was leaking more than I had realized and got pretty hot luckily its only howling no clunking or metal on the magnetic fill plug. so time to find a new rear end lol

I went to the casino about 2 months ago and won $1300 so I promptly went home and ordered the subframe and adjustable torque rods from BNE Dynamics "formerly Kaplhenke Raceing" before I received them I had blown the rear diff replaced it with one from pick and pull it was a g80 locker and sadly it was toasted. the story doesn't end there I found a guy on craigslist whom Had a g80 out of a 91 940 wagon I pulled it and got it installed as well as the subframe and torgue rods aaannndddd I got pictures!!!
this is the new one that's going in.

and other stages of the whole process with pictures of the New subframe and adjustable torque rods I have to say I am very impressed with ben @ BNE and his quality of workmanship and also his support over the phone answering my questions. if you guys need any go fast parts he is the man to see. https://www.bneshop.com/
yes I need to get an adjustable panhard bar and No I didn't paint the calipers my friend did when I was putting in the rear end from pick and pull. he insisted I was not convinced it would show up since stock calipers are small compared to big brake systems.

and some with the new rear end in and subframe all finished Yes I am aware its dirty I don't mind its a daily driven project that I am very lucky to have found this gem in the condition it is in its so clean interior and body wise I get compliments everywhere I go.

Now onto the next part getting the wiring harness from a 940 I bought from Roy installed so I can get my ac and efan all working as it was intended from the factory
edit I really love this setup now with the lower front chassis brace from IPD and this subframe torque rods from BNE this thing is a cornering beast no lean and when I floor it it doesn't wiggle or wobble it flat out just goes very minor lean in corners and straight line launch it is stable and planted.

After driving around in this 90-degree weather today with No AC means I am now making the wiring harness swap A priority no fun driving in a car that lets in as much sun as the 740 does. the 240 never got as hot as this does nor did my 69 142 or my 72 164 e.
The 240 had a dark blue interior all the others had tan so you would think the 240 would be hottest. not even close to as hot as an oven as the 740 is.

so sunny Saturday I decided to tackle the wiring for my ac system I had the o2 sensor I needed for it and started pulling out the old harness from the ECU through the passenger side firewall managed to get it out after a lot of cussing due to the damn HVAC system is kinda in the way,
So I got the new harness threaded threw everything all hooked up turned the car over and it fired right up I was sitting in the passenger seat so I couldn't see that the cel light was on but it was running ok so I didn't notice shut it off got the wiring all tucked where it needed to be everything back together and got in the driver's seat fired up and ran ok oh cel was on. More cursing and swearing much to my friend's amusement I was using his driveway he said what's wrong I said shut it! he promptly laughs and says oh yeah it's a Volvo. my reply is you only say that until I beat your ass in a race then it's god damn that thing is fast.
anyhoot I pulled codes and no codes much louder and more cursing that would make a sailor blush. my friend and his wife are laughing their asses off at me at this point.

SO I start it up its warming up and starts running like crap disconnect the MAF idle smooths out so off to the parts store I go put the new MAF in still has a cel light runs ok though then starts running like **** again I say ok check codes none by this time its late I said screw it ill hit it tomorrow.

Sunday Hot AF
put a new bosch universal o2 sensor in thinking that was the only part I changed besides the harness. fired it up cel is still on shut if off check codes boom 322 MAF burn off wire not functioning I got a new MAF from Autozone Roy warned me the night before about those and damn if he wasn't right. so I put my old MAF back in to check cel is still on runs like **** no codes.
cursing and swearing and no less than 3 beers were consumed in a matter of minutes

so I am thinking of putting the original wiring harness back in and see if that doesn't solve the problem because the car ran like a champ till I swapped the harness. the harness is from a 93 944t lh 2.4 so it should be compatible unless it was messed with by an owner of the 944t like the pinouts or something. or I somehow managed to nuke my ECU during the install no power was in the system when I did it but stranger things have happened.
so my entire weekend was spent on this when it was supposed to only take a few hrs of my weekend. ahh the joys of owning a daily driver project car:)

It appears the pinout on the fuse block side of this harness is different than the one that came in my car 93 must have been when lh2.4 changed I reinstalled my harness this morning and all is well again. so I either fab a way for the condenser to sit in where the 9 series would sit or I can sit down and repin the fuse block side of the harness. with the temperature being forecast in the 106 range in the next few days I really will want the ac working lol.

so I had some free time the other day I decided i was going to solve the no air flow in hvac system. fan was new and with the ac all sorted I needed to figure this out.

First thing I did was buy a vacuum pump hooked it to each vacuum bellows and they all worked as intended checked vacuum signal at each one and had vacuum to each.
so I hooked the pump to the fresh air or recirc bellows and had turned the fan on when it was set to recirc i put my hand up there and it was pushing air out. it was backwards so air was being drawn in from the outputs. so I checked the connection to the fan and lo and behold about 15 inches back in the harness someone had spliced in a new connector! and they wired it backwards lol.
so problem solved air blows cold and hot yah.

and i built these.

this week I have to drive 4 hrs to port Angeles for a funeral I am thinking of buying a power converter and loading up my portable ac unit into the back seat and pipe the exhaust out the back seat window so I have working ac for the trip.

why not fix the ac? much easier.

why not fix the ac? much easier.
yah so you are correct it is easier to fix the ac I was being sarcastic about the inverter, i did get it working somewhat but the ac compressor is on its way out. at least that's what I have come to think with everything I've done with it.
it will operate ok for about ten cycles of the ac clutch the pressure goes up to its high point comes down then repeats but after ten cycles of the clutch for the ac it only brings it down to about 32psi it needs to be about 26psi that means the compressor stays on because its not hitting the low pressure switch to disengage the clutch. wich in my understanding would be a compressor going out its an old r12 compressor that was retro fitted to r134a.
this whole ac thing is all new to me I never worked on a/c before mainly because I didn't have the machine to recycle the freon.

so I had an issue with my rack locking up kinda in the middle like when your driving straight down the road and go to turn and it would be non turning so I replaced the rack found a good one here in town. and problem solved I am in the market for some different chips as the ones that came with the car were tlao and I've changed all kinds of things so I now have pinging issues on acceleration from a stop doesn't ping if i am above 40mph. I don't have any idea what the tlao chips were setup for and with bigger ic and an ipd turbo cam cam bigger injectors etc these chips arent setup for that. so time to buy some new ones. anyone have any recommendations I talked to redblockpowered my setup is different then what he is using to do his so I'm open to suggestions.

Very nice! I am actually thinking of putting that trunk spoiler on mine. Did it come with the car or did you find it here or something?

Here is my 1995 940 Turbo.

I have the Retro Turbo subframe as well but not installed yet. But I do have everything else you can bolt on including custom polyurethane torque arms. I also had the polyurethane engine and trans mount but that was too much vibration for me. I'm more into my BMW type of power... hard, FAST but comfortable! lmao.

Also, if you haven't yet I would do the accumulator mod and add a trans cooler/synthetic fluid to the aw71! Best thing I ever did.

Here is my 1995 940 Turbo.

I love the color on yours. I will say the subframe and adjustable torque rods made a good amount of difference in the swishy rear end its firm stable now, it does add a bit of road noise I put dynamat in the trunk and in the doors and under the rear seats. I installed an external trans cooler got rid of the factory one and bought a nice large one just need to do the accumulator mod now.

that rear spoiler is OEM I bought it off a guy here on this forum. I bought a buncha stuff from him actually lol but yeah that's an OEM spoiler it really changed the look of her.
