1990 740 motor mounts

Before I go hurting my back any further doing Davis prep...

It seems my 1990 calls for hydraulic motor mounts:

Am I able to run the old style (cheaper) mounts like these?

Wouldn't mind saving a few bucks, but I will buy the hydraulic ones if a standard rubber mount doesn't fit. Anyone have experience with this "swap"? TIA!

You'll need the different mounts from an earlier 7 that ran a solid style mount. I'm running the earlier style mounts with a 240 diesel right side mount on both sides in mine, keeps things planted.

There's also a company, forget who now, had a solid style replacement for the hydro brackets. I have no experience with them, just remember seeing them.

In my opinion, it's worth finding the brackets to use the older puck style rubber mounts.

It's half off weekend at Pick n pull...It should be painfully obvious when I get it apart, but thoughts on what parts I need?

Just the block and crossmember mounts, that's it. Turbo and NA are the same for the brackets, NA will be easier to pull.

IIRC there used to be a guy on here that sold the solid motor mounts for the cheaper solid puck mounts...I have hydraulic as well and 6 months later. I can already see detereration in the mount...

I have a set of solid pedestals if you need them.

It may be just the outer layer of rubber shedding. I think a reliable way to tell for sure is to monitor the clearance between the pan and crossmember.

^^^ is correct. Checking engine height against a fixed surface will tell if they are sagging. The hydro mounts I pulled from the R were an inch shorter UNLOADED than the new ones...but that's OE mounts, after almost 300k.

I just replaced the blown and torn RSI mounts and I used two 240 passenger side Diesel mounts. You do have to grind the alignment knub. I used them as you can buy them for 10 buxs shipped on ebay. So far after about 20 clutch drops and burnouts no breakage and the throttle spool hasn't hit the cherry turbo strut brace and broke! Other option for the older mount brackets is the 760 diesel mounts.

Both sides of the older style 740 redblock motor mount brackets are the same, straight through with the nuts and bolts for the rubber mount type. Do not buy the offset mount. Get two passenger side ones.
