Volvo 240 GLT Turbo

Hi turbobrick.

I have a Volvo 240 GLT from 1987 that i have owned since 1994:) and i would like to show you my car

I have totaly restored the car in 1999-2000 and made som mods to the car.

The engine has been changed to a B230ET with a raised boost to 0.85 bar and a GIK Turbo chip, and 3" stainles exaust, 204 Hp.

Gearbox changed to the M46 type P from a 93' 940 turbo, turbo chlutch and hydraulic chlutch.

Rear end is an 1031 with original mounted Lsd.

Rear traction and control arms shortened 20mm

Rear wheel house sligtly modified to fit wide wheels

Home made coilovers with vw golf 4 springs and bilstein sport inserts

Normaly i drive on Volvo Polaris wheels, but after over 10 years of the same wheels i have changed to Oz Futuras 8.5/17 and 10/17" with smal mods in the center of the wheels.
To fit the car i have made 5*120 in my front and rear hubs to fit the Oz with BMW bolt patern, think i have the first 240' with Oz Futura.;-)

front brakes is Wilwood 310/21mm rotors on home made center bell, and original 4 pot calipers, on new extension plates.

So i bought these old Oz Futura wheels from a 5 series BMW and started the convertion to my 244.

As you can see i have decidet to build my front strouts to a coilover version and have got 2 willwood rotors to upgrade my front brakes:cool:

I started off with a test mount of the 10" wide 17" wheels in the back with 235/45 tyres on

In the front i have 8.5" et 13 with 225/45 17 on

To be abel to fit the 5/120 bolt patern wheels on volvo's hubs i changed the hubs to
5/120mm at my work (Toolmaker)

I decidet to redesign the center of the wheels as i think i wil drive without the center caps:)

Fore many years i have been driving with standart lowering springs and bilstein shocks, its ok but i wanted to have a lower and stiffer car, so i got a pair of springs from a VW Golf coilover kit and started to build my own coilover to the volvo.

The springs is 2.5" / 7" long but i dont know how they are rated Kp/inch? but i want to try them as they were cheap. fitted them with my bilsteins.

I didn't have any tube to use so milled out some aloy

On this photo you can se a small soft spring on top of the main spring, i removed it to cet the car lower.

I have ben driving with this setup all summer but it's not perfect, the car looks cool but i think the shocks i too soft fore the springs? has any of you got a perfect setup?

i dicited to make new strouts with droped spindels 50MM, and a aloy block i the botom of the strouts as the old GrA cars had, this will be on my to doo list.
 
So this is how the car looks now, i think the car looks great both with the center cabs on the Oz futuras and with out them, more race with out i think
