Found this in my stash, Can't remember if it's one I pulled from an '83 flathood or ordered from overseas.

Any help will be appreciated.

Its the same plastic either way, but I thought the 83 flathood grilles were silver? Sound familiar to anyone else? The rest of world just got black ones as far as I know.

Thanks guys,

neptune, I thought I remembered a difference in the chrome trim, but now that you mention it the silver thing sounds familiar. I found 3 flathood grills in the San Diego yards during the years I was foraging there but by the time I needed one for a build I think I had to grab one from overseas.

Darn age related memory losss ;-)

The argent silver ones came on the special 83 cars, i think the rest were black. Someone said that the argent one, has a little differnet space/and or chrome trim is different, some say not, i have yet to see the difference. The part numbers are the same on the black/silver grille p/n 1246618.

That looks like one of the many that I (and others) have pulled from '79 and '80 Aussie/Euro spec 240GL's and sold. As I understand it, the US cars only got them painted silver, not plain black plastic.

Mine was silver until I plastidipped it, the spacing looks the same to me.
