As I've been posting a lot of pics of the thing desided to make projekt thread about this thing.
First of I started with a Land Rover Discovery 1 from 1996. Manual and 2.5L turbodiesel.
Well that thing was standing behind my house for last 3 months as I got a new daily driver.
A 2001 Renault Master Van. Next what happened was that we got a great offer on our oldtimers rally car project - Volvo 142 from 1973. So we sold it. Here is a pic of these two.
As the "rally" car was gone we needed a new car to take part of this years oldtimers winter rally. Searched the local adds, found some old BMW but nothing strange or different. I'm kind of a strange person as I like weird cars.
Finaly found a Volvo hearse. A 1987 740 with B230K and AW70 with a strange Teletubbies sticker on the side. Offered the owner a exchange to Land Rover.
Met him on the same day and we parted ways, he with my Landy and me with a strange ex hearse Volvo van.
Well as all old cars there a lot of small issues.
First all the lights in the instrument cluster where dead. Out with regulas bulbs and in with white LED's that I allready had sitting around.
After that been driving it around daily to get an idea what to do with it.
What I found was that the OD didn't work, exhaust was lound and the tyres are the wrong size (175/65/R14).
First the overdrive - solenoid was stuck shut so no 4th gear (OD), modified it so now it is constant 4 speed box. As I was allready under the car, took a look of the exhaust. Well the back muffler had a hole in it.
With the help of an angel grinder of it went in with a quick fix, staight tube and a bend in the end.
Next looked around the van to what I got. Found the original purchase invoices, ownersmanual, the usual stuff. Then also found one other accessorie that wasn't on the car and a rear cab heater. All functional.
After that started on some new winter tyres that are in correct size - 185/70/R14.
Found nice new studded ones.
These should have some traction.
Next got some cheap LED H4 bulbs to try out.
But them in and they worked like crap. They had wires soldered on wrong, spent some hours resoldering them and some what got them working. Still crap but not worse than a regular halogenic bulb.

Took some pics in the morning after.
The interior.
Attached the one accessorie that wasn't on the car - a flag attachment with a pole.
Now just got to survive this years winter rally.
What are planned next:
- get some V70/S60 heated leather seats
- replace white vinyl in the interior with a black one
- find some 15"-16" oldschool rims for summer tyres
- get new exhaust done
- replace pushings and other things in the suspention
- remove teletubbies and replace with my firms colors/graphics.
PS: Sorry for bad spelling - english isn't my native language.
