b20 flywheel options/alternatives

Okay makes sense then why you made it that way for the smaller twin and triple disc setups. I can get it fixed no problem. Will any of the other saab pressure plates that are 228mm work on the saab areo 240mm pattern?

I have a couple new 240mm pressure plates kicking around. If you send me the part number you need I can verify it. Don't see me doing anything but collecting more dust with them.

Fair enough John. It does help for those of us budgeting out a build since it's a multi-year thing saving up all the pennies we find at the yards to cover pistons, rods, flywheel, then machining costs for the bottom end and such. I'll probably hit you up for something in a year or so, once I get some other parts collected up, but it'll be a custom order....stock pressure plate pattern with no tone ring. lol

Heard back from TTV, not too bad at $419 delivered to my door, but theirs is 4.4kg, so just under 10lbs, a bit light for a street car.

The Fidanza flywheel in my Toyota Matrix it's 7.5lbs. in a car that weighs very close to a 240. It does have a 4.56 final drive and I'm sure a much lighter rotating assembly but even my girlfriend can drive it without too much slippage getting started.

Page 10 of my R Sport catalogue clearly shows the lightened steel flywheel(s) available in period, notes: "Recommended for both street and competition...Saves 6 lbs. over std. flywheel."

My local machine shop (River City Machine, WRJ VT) has measured and several times exactly duplicated the shape and dimensions of this piece from a 6-bolt R Sport original kept under glass in a safe place.
Recently added one to a thoughtfully warmed B18-to-20 rebuild, purrfect...

In Sweden we also use this type of flywheel. Link to pic:

"Skelettsvanghjul" in swedish = "skeletonflywheel". Some of them are new fabricated but most of them are machined out of the stock/standard flywheel. Here is a few links to swedish shops selling it:

In my opinion the flywheel cant get too light... ;-)
