Well I found another ride. My build is being put on hold as i finally found the car my wife has been begging me for.

This '66 122 drove 15 miles home under its own power.

Got it for $400 USD. The B18 in it runs fine and the person selling it wanted the motor back. Well i do have 3 b20b's in my garage so i was happy to make the swap.

Test drove it and put it through the ringer. Not a single noise out of her under any condition. Pounded hard on all the common rust areas and no rot. Suspension fair.

Almost all the trim was in the trunk. It looks like someone went about trying to restore it but Did not have the skills or time to complete the task. I know it was not the man i bought it from. He has a big shop and tons of volvo's.

Found all the parts that it was missing for 200 USD

While tracking down parts I asked my wife what color she wanted her block to be. She chose pink. WOW, it was rather hard to find 500 deg pink paint.

got the old b18 out

Got the front off. Only 4 bolts holding it on. The bumper bolts have rust-rotted in but i got them out with the air chisel.

LOL you inspired me when i ran out of high temp primer today to do this for my love for the wife. see thread above.

Well i got busy again this weekend. Did some more painting of the engine bay and started assembling the motor now that i have the head back.

I was first shocked to find that the old blue 142

had a D cam to replace the C cam in the pink block. It was so fricking new it still had the paint mark on it.

Then i got thinking it might have other cool stuff in there. Found out it had the IPD lifter and push rod set!

Wow, nice. Looks like what my ex wanted when we got her a 760:

I didn't paint the block or pull anything, but it was definitely different underhood when we were done.

I love that pink! your wife's car is sporting.

New updates in 7 days for the 122 build.

Well got the motor and tranny and motor in over the week.

would have got it in sooner but have been grinding rust and welding too.

been busy painting and shaving the bay. Much motor work too!

Trying to get this car road worthy. I need a ride and it will take longer to finish this Megasquert on the 145 then just finish up the 122. I don't pan on rushing it though. Still is the wife's car/gift but im sure shell be happy to part with the impala after this is finished!

Here is what its looking like as of now.

Most of the grey stuff on the steering and A - Arms is paint dust. It will come off with a wash.

the motor, the tranny, and the motor? wow. just wow.

Yep, you don't have that setup?

thanks for the smile i got. As you can see I'm quite busy geting this done :)

Well after buying 80 bucks in tools today I got the crank gear off the old crank and onto this motor!

Had to use a bearing separator and then a bolt puller tool. When the crank gear broke free it jumped a foot in the air off the crank. The sucker was rust welded in there just like the pistons in the engine the crank came off it were.

So tomorrow i can install the timing gear and be close to the first start! Ill take a vid of the first start success or failure.

So no vid of it running but i got tired of trying to get this carb rebuilt so i sprayed some starter fluid in there and she ran! for 5 seconds

The weight is off my chest !

And its running with carbs. They leek out the jet lines so ill have to go fix that tomorrow as its a fire hazard. But for now looks like she may hit the road again.

oh and my wife cut the vid short after the back fire. Scared her good.
