How much power do you want? There are various parties that tune M4.3 and 4.4 and will do so based on your specs.

But wouldn't adapting the T5 ecu and harness be roughly the equivalent work of using a stand alone?

Anyway, here are some good links to start off with...

Was looking for 300-350 I may use aftermarket ecu

Awesome! Should be fun. Do you already have a turbo picked out?

According to Vast, a 20T will get you there. 22T's are available as well. OTOH, people are claiming to have made 340 with 19T's. They may also have done some other things. NA cams and/or NA intake manifold with a 960 throttle body.

Then there are 9 blade and 11 blade turbines that will help extend the top end some.

Let us know. :)

I don't really have anything decided yet .I'm unsure about the ECU seems using the standard ecu and modifying it seems to be as costly as going aftermarket

The good thing about using a tuned OE ECU is that it's already tuned. At least you don't have to do it. I guess it's just a matter of where you want to spend your time.

Join one of the t5rwd pages on FB (there are a few) you can find ecu?s for 50-120 pounds.
Just make sure that it is a stage 3 or 4, preferably a stage 4
A stage 4 is good for about 330hp and if you then want to up the HP you can use larger MAF and injectors ...and if you want to go even bigger you will need a fuel pressure regulator and raise the pressure to about 4bar and start playing around with MAF sizes

I?m running 440cc@3bar injectors with a 76mm MAF on a stage 4 chip with 1.5bar of boost

If you have a ecu you can buy the chip https://www.blocket.se/goteborg/Trimchip_Steg_4_Volvo_850_T5_och_T5R_51971148.htm?ca=20&w=3 for about 100 pounds

Great info thanks how do you get around the immobilizer

That is a bit tricky ...you want to buy a ecu from 95 or earlier and it has to be from a turbo car , N/A cars had two ecu?s ...you might find a non immobilizer ecu on 96?s too after that you will need the emmobilizer and the keys that match it ...I happen to have one lying about BUT as I have no idea how to graft it in to the whip and as I have not really bothered to check how to do it either it?s just been collecting dust.

Again have a look at FB heres a link to the page I spend some time on https://www.facebook.com/groups/476053072451385/

If you choose to go with the "stock" ecu I can guid you throw the "how to" of hooking it up to the 740/940?s electrics
