Been toying with some things. Got the interior pulled. Pretty funky but not as bad as the black 92 I tidied up for my daughter (see link in my sig if you care).

Some weird aftermarket wood kit being replaced by the stock faux-wood, including shift knob.

These are the before pics. After pics will be coming soon.

Carpets will be pressure washed and/or replaced.

Tires on the stock wheels are nearly new but I really want to put on my Volans. Replacement transmission is going to happen sooner or later. Grabbed a replacement foglight at the junkyard today and replaced that.

Nice! What is the plan? DD?
What are those things above the headunit?

Your interior is not even close to the dirtyness I found in mine :D Gummy bears, unknown sticky stuffs, child toys etc..

Looking like it will be my son's DD.

The thing above the radio is a cup/coin holder from a Ford Taurus - not sure if I'll use it or not.

The other Volvo repo I cleaned looked like this:

So far I've:
Pressure washed the carpets
Changed out the weird wood kit for a standard dark wood dash kit (with matching wood shift knob)
Cleaned the seats
Mounted Volans

Picked up some really nice looking struts and aluminum A-arms with new bushings at the junkyard.
Installed one A-arm
Installed one side of the 302mm brakes with cross-drilled rotors from my old 850

Grabbed this for teh old-school lulz:

Pic of the size difference between the stock 11" rotors and the 302mm (11.9") rotors:

Got them installed with the 850 calipers and stainless lines, everything bolted right up.
Couldn't find my brake grease and I'm out of brake fluid so I quit that for a bit.

The Volans are due for some freshening so I hit them with a couple of coats of DupliColor Graphite.

2 done so far.

sweet deal Chris, you sure do love a good project!

The term you're looking for is "Glutton for punishment".

I've never seen those bass pump things before. How do they sound/

Better than expected really, especially for the amount of room they take and the BS amp I've saddled them with... Oh yeah, they're also like 15+ years old.

With the newly-painted wheels I figured the brakes could use a dash of color.

Ok, too much color and played out.
So this happened:

Looks better behind the wheels IMHO.
Rear:

Front:

(Sorry for the blurry pic)

Also painted the rotor hats the same color as the wheels - no pic.

Saga continues next weekend when we finish installing the interior and flush the trans.

Scored at the Pull-A-Part today.

Scored about a buckfitty in change too.

Already scrubbed and pressure-washed the front carpets. Gotta figure out how to wire up the S90 shifter to the 960 and go back to get the S90 e-brake lever, but overall I'm pleased!

Painted the last brake caliper and mounted the final Volan. (no pic)

Drained a gallon of nasty fluid from the trans pan.

Went to swap the filter/seal with the kit I picked up at Advance... no fit. The old filter was in good shape so I cleaned and refitted it. Also cleaned the magnets/pan. Magnets were gunky and had some metal shavings on them.

Scraped all the crap off the pan and applied some new anaerobic sealant.

Swapped the driver's side carpet:

Got better A/B pillars:

Tomorrow we finish flushing the trans, add the Lucas Trans-Fix, and hopefully drive this beast.

Wow, glad to see you are making great progress with the car. Better then rotting in my back yard. Repo's are always disgusting. I've bought a few of them, makes you wonder if they were living out of them.

Killer score with the S90 interior. I want those seats for my 940.

Lets hope for the best with the transmission.

Put it on the ground and drove it for the first time since I brought it home. Engine is still smooth, not too sure about the trans yet. Think the fluid level is still off but I ran out of time to mess with it today.
The ride is wobbly, I think it's due to the old/new tires. They were new when mounted a few years ago but have sat under my old 855 and I think they are just crusty. I'll swap on the stock wheels/tires next weekend and see if that helps.

Still have some interior bits to swap over and the outside needs a good cleaning, but she's getting ready to be driven for the winter.

Sooo... tried to swap back the 16" stock wheels and they don't clear the 302mm brakes with 850 calipers. Oddly, there don't seem to be any weights on most of the Volans.

Fixed and swapped in the S90 door panels and they are looking fabulous.

Flipped the door handles left/right because the clearcoat was cracked pretty bad on the tops but looked good underneath.
Protip: always make sure the door opens properly before reinstalling the door panel when replacing door handles.

That is all.

Trans was 1.5 quarts low. Still has a mushy shift but it's not bad.

As stated, the tires on my Volans are suspect and the stock 960 wheels don't fit over the brakes. Thankfully Hydras clear the 302s just fine! Drove it some more and the alignment is off, pulls right, but the ride is pretty good.

Since it needs an alignment anyway:

1.5 coils per side, will mount them on the car later, no pics just yet.

This:

Gave way to this (sorry for the craptastic pic):

Pulled this out of the dash:

Made this (bolts came out after the glue dried):

Pulled this out of the airbox:

Modded it a bit:

Put it back together and stuffed it back in the airbox. Did it help? Who knows. I'm not sure if the temperature spring was working or not - doesn't matter now.

This week/weekend she will get a new battery and alignment. Maybe I'll talk to the shop about removing the rear muffler and putting in a straight pipe?

I did the airbox mod awhile back on my 960. It helped. Mine was broken on the hot side open. They all tend to do that from what I've found. I also did the rear muffler delete awhile back. Gives it a nice sound and not loud at all.

Nice progress!

Made this (bolts came out after the glue dried):

My dash speakers look different. They have a "woofer" (a tiny one) and tweeter...

But my car was configured "interestingly" back in the days... full-full, but has no door speakers...

Washed it up, drove it a bit and played with the alignment. Almost there, but I'll get it professionally done next week.
Driver's side has kind of a loud clunk on bumps so I'll need to figure that out. Sounds like one of the 302mm brakes is dragging too... something else for the list.

Dismantled the trunk:

Cleaned it up:

The pink saran wrap is holding the WD-40 on the trunk to loosen up the glue from the emblems (pay no attention to the giant dent).

Cleaned up pretty nicely, but the paint isn't worthy of waxing, it'll never shine. I kinda like the flat finish though... especially with the Volans.
Seems like maybe it was repainted at some point. Definitely darker than the regular 419 pewter/silver.

Isn't it simply amazing what items previous owners managed to cram/lose/drop in between the seats/center console & even under the seats?

Nothing as good as the crisp hundred-dollar bill I found in the trunk of my $400 dollar 92 940GL. But yeah, peoples is naaaaasty.
