cam install, bad idea to NO order ipd's shim kit?

I went from M to T to B and never touched shims. They were all within spec.

When I went from M to iPd turbo I think the only ones out of spec were a bit loose. Have been that way for awhile but i don’t drive the car thaaaat much. They make some noise so it’s about time I swap them out.
 
No one suggested measuring the base diameter of the cam for difference between cams. If the base diameter is the same the shims should be the same. High lift cams may have the base circle machined down to increase lift.
 
vary the rpm between 2000-3000 every now and again to change the way the oil splashes around i would for sure break in any case except a roller maybe
