17x9.5 square set fitment issues

I bought a set of C4 35th anniversary wheels for a steal. I went with a set of 25mm adapters and they still dont fit without hitting the suspension. Is it recommended to add a spacer onto the adapter?

Fitment is 17x9.5 +56

Never stack spacers/adapters. Sell your adapters and buy larger ones. With 9.5 inch wide wheels, you're going to need like 50mm adapters to get the offset low like the poster above said.

Also you should list what car its for. I looked in your profile and it seems to be a 240 I assume.
 
Stacking adapters and spacers is sketchy but the cheap way out...I'm forced into it on my C4 better wheels and am not too proud of it but it works
