940 Heat hose routing

I had an issue with one of the hoses from the heater core popping during the cars emissions testing before lockdown around 6 months ago and am now just getting off my arse to sort it properly. However I cannot work out for the life of me the correct order & routing of the coolant hoses including the heater valve. Car is a turbo 940 in RHD with the B230FK engine and it had AC from the factory.

I believe the coolant should flow from the outlet under the cylinder head to the bottom of the heater core. from the top of the heater core it should connect to the long metal pipe that runs behind the head to the oil cooler. Is this right? Where should the valve go in all this?

I've done a lot of searching and can't find a diagram that makes sense and shows the valve to try and piece it together myself. Does anyone have a diagram even for a LHD car i can use?

oh that is quite helpful. Shame it doesn't tell you exactly which part is the heater valve but it looks like part number 59 to me.

If thats the case that would put it between the outlet from the head and the inlet to the heater core by my reckoning. its a bit of a pain as that means the pipes have to come out of the block, cross the engine bay behind the engine then double back on themselves to meet the metal return pipe. no wonder why the RHD hoses are expensive if / when you can find them... :omg:

Here's the best I could come up with from my 740.

I was just about finished making a CAD-worthy drawing, when suddenly a passing m??se trampled on my computer, so this diagram has been completed in an entirely different style at great expense and at the last minute.

MasterBlaster, that's beautiful. I saved it for when I get around to installing a heater core.

Thats bob on! thank you so much. I'll get it all plumbed up later and let you know if it does the trick.

Managed to get everything plumbed up using the diagram supplied by MasterBlaster. Amusingly, and perhaps not entirely a surprise to most, the heater valve decided to snap as I was tightening the last hose clamp. New one is being ordered now and I should be back on the road soon.

Thanks to those that contributed.

They do that.

The one I got with the car in Feb 2009 started leaking, so I replaced it along with all new heater hoses in Mar 2010.

August 2011, this happened:

Woo-hoo!!! Lasted a whole 17 months.

Another new valve in.

June 2016 this happened:
