Might be a dumb question but when I plug in my vehicle info to look for parts they ask me to choose. I thought a 91 turbo 940 was a 91 940 turbo.

SE means it is essentially a 960 with a B230FT, and it's a one-year only option for sedans (91).

Main differences are:

-960 Aluminum hood
-960 fenders
-hideaway wipers
-960 dashboard, with 960 HVAC system
-960 fuel tank
-tilt wheel
-960 door panels
-glass sunroof
-960 seats
-Independent rear suspension
-960 rear exhaust section

If you run a google image search for each it becomes pretty obvious.

They made wagons as well. The wagons have solid axles.
You should change 960 above to 760 as the 960 didn't come out until the next model year, 92. The 940 SE was basically a continuation of the 760 turbo for '91.

The 960 came out in 1991 in other markets. But yes, the 91 940SE is essentially the next step from a 1990 760.

Strictly speaking, there was only one model year for the 944 SE.

The differences are that the turbo, front end, interior, rear suspension, exhaust on the sedans, and everything else the other guys said.

Suspension the 940SE cars both sedan and wagon are Nivomats. Both still being different from each other.

Normal 940's came with mitsubishi turbos and the SE's came with the Garrett and different downpipe flange.

Dashboard is similar to the 760 and the regular 740/940 won't work with it.

Hidden cowl panel.

seat controls are different.

More general options as they were the top of the line model.

I didn't say there was more than one model year.

Other than the turbocharger, for purposes of ordering parts, the OP should just look up parts for a '90 760.

I won't wade into whether the 91 940SE is more like a 760 or a 960.
What I will say that is if I'm looking for engine bay info or parts, I look at 740t/940t info.
If I'm looking for interior parts/info, I look for 760/960 sources.
And it's a great version of the 740/940/960 lines.
