Help a newbie confused with performance ignition wires

Hello everyone,

I got this NGK wires set from Amazon -

NGK RC-EUX010 Spark Plug Wire Set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001RM7YUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_25dyDbQGRD358

Both manufacturer and Amazon say it should fit my ride.

I have a rear of the block mounted distributor on a 96', 2.0t, 940.

And the distributor side does not fit.

Here is an image. On the left is the distributor terminal of the new NGK cable, on the right is the one from the Bougicords that I'm currently running. They are clearly not the same.

This is the terminal on my distributor (same as the one in the coil) -

Bougicord snaps nicely on it, the NGKs do not, obviously.

I just want to buy a set of nice and fat silicone wires to go with my BPR7ES NGK plugs (got the ones with the solid, non-screw off, terminal heads)

NGK 3785 BPR7ES SOLID Standard Spark Plug -

Please help.

Thanks in advance,
Matthew.

Wow, that's sad for NGK to list that distributor end, definitely doesn't look right.

As Dave mentioned, Kingsborne will sell you the right stuff. I've had several sets of their wires, pretty good luck on the Volvo so far. You can select which boots you want, silicone for the plugs you've got or metal if you have removable nuts on your plugs.

I'm guessing your overseas given the 2.0T, not sure what they charge for shipping, since they are located here in sunny California.

Strange... in the Amazon ad, the only 1996s listed in the "Make sure it fits" list are a 6-cylinder 960 or an 850.
Same at the NGK site I use... https://ngksparkplugs.com/en/part-finder

And the distributor side does not fit.

Doesn't fit at all, or doesn't "snap" in place like the spring-clipped Bougies?
The NGKs look like they'd just slide on, instead of snapping against the threads.

Google thinks Tel Aviv.

Yes, I'm in Israel, Tel Aviv.

The NGKs terminal have a way wider opening than the width of the pin on the dizzy. It just does not hold on to it, at all.

I saw multiple references to the Kingsborne stuff. Checked out their site, looks very good, also judging by the good feedback here on TB.

However, we have very strict customs on import stuff. Especially on vehicle parts. Amazon is in agreement with Israeli customs. So stuff ordered from Amazon never ever hits any issues with customs. Anything else and I'm potentially in for a ride with local customs, which I'm trying to avoid at all costs :).

That's why my preference is always to find the right parts on Amazon.

So, I was hoping that someone would come along and share a part number for wires that are known to fit, from experience, so that I could attempt to find them in Amazon.

Longshot, I know :)

Also, this thread shows someone that seems to be running the same dizzy as I am, rear of the block mounted. And the claim is that these wires (same NGKs wires that I got) do fit -

So, I'm even more confused now.

Considered crimping the terminal in the NGKs, to make it a little more snug, so that it would hold on to the pin on the dizzy port. But I don't like that idea very much.

when I first answered I didn't realize you were overseas. You could also contact Skandix or a swedish parts supplier for performance stuff like KL racing, or KG Trimning. They may have something for you if shipping from Europe is better.
