• Hello Guest, welcome to the initial stages of our new platform!
    You can find some additional information about where we are in the process of migrating the board and setting up our new software here

    Thank you for being a part of our community!

whos been on the board the longest?

Join date means nothing when some of us have been around longer than a Turbobricks 'board'.

My join date is 12-10-2002, but IIRC we all had to re-register after a server change or something. I remember first posting in the fall of 1998 (I bought an 82 DL in September and wanted to turbo it...LOL). I think Scott Hart was the one who responded to my first post.

forward you a copy of each posting as it is submitted, and 'Digest', which
forwards a compilation of posts made during a 24 hour period each day at
2100 Eastern US time. These are known as "turbobricks" and "turbobricks-digest"
respectively. If you wish to subscribe, send your request appropriately.

Dedicated to the discussion and advancement of Volvo Performance.
------------www.turbobricks.org--------------
The ultimate resource for Volvo Performance worldwide!

History
=======
The Turbobrick e-mail forum was formed in 1996 by Angel Morales of David,
Chiriqui, Republic of Panama.

Purpose
=======

The Turbobricks e-mail forum is for the discussion and advancement of Volvo
Performance worldwide. Topic ranges from turbocharger selection, intercoolers,
engine and suspension modifications, and many more topics. You do not need to
be a turbocharger equipped car owner to participate in this forum as
non-turbocharged Volvo's are discussed from time to time but remember it's
all about performance!

This is important: we are all about performance here, not general maintenance
issues! There are many other venues for general Volvo maintenance related
issues but there is only this forum for the discussion of making our Volvo's
faster, handle better and more powerful!

For general question revolving around maintainances issues we strongly
suggest that you try our friends on the Swedish Bricks list
(www.swedishbricks.org) or the Brick Board (www.brickboard.com).

Policy
======

The discussion of non-Volvo powered vehicles and topics of general (non-high
performance) automotive interest are strongly discouraged. Please limit
discussions to those within the guidelines of the list's purpose. The moderator
will guide discussions that stray from the interest of the intended audience
back to focus or suggest the discussion be taken to personal e-mail.

Profanity, personal attacks, and 'flaming' are not tolerated. Such behavior
will result in a warning by the moderator. Persistent disruptions or
inappropriate postings will result in expulsion from the list.

How To Subscribe
================

The list operation is maintained using 'Majordomo' software. This software
allows you to submit subscription requests to join the list, and automatically
forwards list traffic to subscribers automatically.

Before subscribing, you should consider how you want to receive the list
traffic. Two methods are available. 'Standard' allows you to receive a copy
of each message as it is posted. This will cause you to receive many mail
messages each day. 'Digest' sends a single compilation of the past 24 hours
of list discussion at approximately 2100 Eastern US time each evening. Both
methods will provide you with all the list discussion, and both permit you
to participate in the discussion.

To subscribe in the 'standard' format, you need to send a mail message to
majordomo@gnttype.org with the command "subscribe turbobricks" followed by
your email address. For example: If your email address is user@foo.bar,
you would send a message to majordomo@gnttype.org containing only:

subscribe turbobricks user@foo.bar

To subscribe in the 'digest' format, you need to send a mail message to
majordomo@gnttype.org with the command 'subscribe turbobricks-digest'
followed by your email address. For example: If your email address is
user@foo.bar, you would send a message to majordomo@gnttype.org containing
only:

subscribe turbobricks-digest user@foo.bar

Naturally, in either case you would use your own email address in place
of the example. If you are unsure of your email address contact your
internet provider for assistance. Your subscription can not be processed
without a correct email address.

Once your subscription request is reviewed and approved, you'll begin to
receive the list traffic.

For more command information, send a message only containing the
word 'help' in the text to majordomo@gnttype.org.

List Operation
==============

To use the auto-forwarder to distribute your post to the list distribution,
send your article to turbobricks@gnttype.org. Note that posting to the list
is restricted to subscribers only.

Bugs reports, questions, and comments may be sent to:

turbobricks-info@gnttype.org

NOTE: The SMTP "Reply to:" field is set to the list address. If you intend
to reply to an individual about their post, please make sure that you
send to them, and not to the list distribution. Anything sent to the list
distribution address will be sent to _everyone_. Please use discretion.

IF YOU DON'T WANT OR NEED *EVERYONE* TO SEE IT, DON'T SEND IT TO THE LIST
DISTRIBUTION ADDRESS!

Please insure that any postings are sent as plain text, and do not include
MIME attachments, 'uuencoded' text, or any non-text sections. All postings
should be made as plain ASCII text. If you are using Microsoft mail tools
or web browsers to send mail, pay particular attention to your settings.
Turn off anything that will send your post as an 'RTF' format document.
Posts not conforming to this requirement may be rejected automatically
or held pending moderator approval.

Archives
========

Archives may be retrieved from gnttype.org via majordomo. Just send a mail
message including only the appropriate command listed below to
majordomo@gnttype.org. Note that only digest copies and not individual
posts may be retrieved.

To return an index of digests you can "get" for turbobricks.

index turbobricks-digest

To get an old turbobricks digest:

get turbobricks <filename>

Note that the files are named by volume and issue number. (i.e. v01.n001)

World Wide Web
==============

The list 'home page' is at http://www.turbobricks.org/ and offers access
to articles about modifications, members and member's cars, detail history
of our club,and many, many other things.

Disclaimer
==========
Subscription to the list is at the sole discretion of the list moderators.

'bouncing' mail are both causes for removal from the list distribution. No
warranty is either expressed or implied as to the truth or fitness of

Yeah, I've been around since the EZ board days, not sure when I first joined, been on the internet since mid 90's or so, always had a Volvo, i joined as soon as i found a place to join.

I was on the EZ board as Lifeofabmxer before I was TerribleOne.. Probably '01 or '02 I remember getting on and seeing a nice pic of I think Juhua's white 740 with a body kit every day. I never even posted until '02. Maybe that means it's time for me to go! hahaha

I think I joined around 2001 when I had a white 1986 745GLE. Put a crappy cold air intake and cone filter on it and started asking turboing my NA and was told to get a turbo car instead of adding a turbo. That 10 year old topic is stickied now for a reason! Got an IPD catalog and started got really excited and got IPD sways, IPD cam gear, and VX cam! Crashed the white wagon 3 times and the third time killed it and got a 1990 740 Turbo and got into the B230FT's.

My join date is Nov 02, but I remember the board just changed and I waited several months before registering. You see some people with mid 2002 join dates.

Tbricks is a strange, but fun and informative phenomenon.

ah the old board, i remember reading (can't remember if I posted back in those days) when i was trying to soup up my old 245, even though I barely knew how to change the oil!

That was when I lived in Windsor, 1997 or '98.

I dont even want to see what my posts from back then looked like. I read one of mine from 2002 recently and almost every sentence had a gay smiley at the end of it. I try to avoid the goofy yellow dudes as much as possible. Stupid yellow racist smileys. Where are the Mexican and Black ones? I see some of them are random colors like blue and green. When the **** does your face turn green when you nod? :nod: Fake edit-found one black one :woowoo:

New sig.:) Fast edti: What happen to the old content (from previos "versions" of TB)?

Of all the strange things I have said that gets sigged. I liked telling Quattro to "stick his finger up his ass and yell hallelujah" as a method for timing his engine since won't listen about how to do it right.

Tbricks is a fantastic place for learning about new parts, methods, and information. I don't know about you guys, but almost everybody I know doesnt care about cars. Nobody likes talking about cars and especially Volvo's. They just ask "Why!?"

Tbricks has changed a lot over the years. People actually used to reply to questions asked in the Performance Section. Now everybody just hangs out in OT and tries to be funny. People are afraid of asking questions or giving advice that might not be perfectly accurate in fear of getting flamed.

I am guilty of participating in OT, but I think it shoud just ****ing die. I clicked on the 5 Euro thread today and it was on the 1200th page, but I can't get people to respond about fitting my Pegs to my 940.

I remeber the old performance threads were it would be like Captain Bondo, StealthFi (signed in as guest), Doug (Hank Scorpio), Buchka, Poi, Pennybridge and some college engineering students going back and forth about physics of internal combustion engines and none if it made any sense to me.
