Skyblue Volvo 244 from 83

Turbo engine should be from 1990 740.

B230K was originally on that 740. Someone took that out, Put B230FT in and I bought it, took B230FT out and put that same B230K in.

B230FD was from 1994 945.

Sweet car!

I think -94 FD block is probably without squirters(not 100 sure), but -95 block wich i had was with squirters.

I see, 1990 is good, it has thick rods. :)

I'm pretty sure all FD blocks have squirters.

I think you are making a huge exaggeration... No way can you call those later b230 rods "thick".
THICK is like the monstrous "M" rods.
Early skinny B200/B230 rods are like spaghetti, late B230 rods are like "2 pieces of spaghetti"..
Still very thin just not anorexic thin needing immediate medical treatment.

Guys what do you think about 1000405 head? Or should I go with 531? Atm I have 530.

Also what cam to use? I have T-cam and one cam that has X. I think somewhere is A cam too.

Yes, you can use FD block but you have to make turbocharger oil connections to it and use FT pistons if you want 8.7:1 compressions.

405 head may be with big coolant passages so it is not that good as 531 wich is propably with small coolant passages. You never know about these, better look those things in live.

It has the thicker of the two versions of B230 rods.

531 is probably better because 405 is likely to have K-Jet injector holes. They have very similar if not identical ports so from a performance standpoint it doesn't matter. Use the A-cam.

Just check the date on the block (Behind the passenger side engine mount)

Or just pop the pan, to see exactly what you got..

You'll have to replace the gasket, but you might break it anyways when you swap to the block mounted distributor..
