Vancity Volvos

What! Where? Sounds like party times are coming...

Also, might anyone have a double-DIN deck lying around that they'd like to sell?

What's wrong with single DIN? Why you gotta turn everything into some sorta Deck measuring contest...

:-P

Sorry, I'll escort myself out now...

On a slightly more serious note, I'll have a baller JDM one with Navigation soon, but useless unless you're fluent in Japanese and are intending to drive in Japan. It does have a minidisc player though...

Assuming aftermarket, I've just done a bunch of research on everything from the cheaper Android Audio decks on Amazon all the way up. What's your price range?

I'm toying with the idea of a double DIN or single for my S70, but I have the stock amplifier under the passenger seat.
Anyone with experience using a DIN to RCA harness to keep the stock amp? or would a modern, aftermarket deck sound better with similar amplification?

And I'm glad to hear the v8wagon is stickin' around. I learned how to change spark plugs and do a compression test on that V8

Aftermarket?
Preferably, with at least USB and aux.

$200-$300? Don't want anything crazy, just per above. This is for Darth, which has the custom 780 double-DIN conversion. Had a crappy old JVC deck that's happily in the wife's former runabout (re-purposed as a shop car now).

EDIT: Reason being is that Darth doesn't have anything right now, and I'm hoping to do a manual swap on it and drive it a bit this winter/spring if I can.... :-P

Cds important?

If not I'd be interested in this.

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130S600BS/Pioneer-MVH-S600BS.html?tp=72406&avf=N $110 usd for mechless and bluetooth.

I've always liked Alpine, but the cheapest double din they have is gonna (just) break the budget with exchange... $280 usd

If I was breaking the budget and willing to gamble a bit more, I'd be really tempted by this one... for 290 usd

Factory refurb, but touchscreen and backup camera compatible. Plus it doesn't look like Tron threw up on the dashboard. I just about bought one of these at its regular price of $350.

Caveat re Crutchfield; be prepared for two days to get cross-border billing/shipping figured out. Their site is absymal for it and you will end up on the phone with someone.

I also looked at a bunch of Amazon cheap-n-cheerful Android Audio touchscreens too, but digging deeper, the verdict for most was poorer sound quality for more features which is a deal-breaker for me. If I was going that route, I'd look at units from Joying and Pumpkin and look for ones with tons of sales and reviews.

To my rust-free countrymen:

I'm in Ontario trying to find doors (and possibly anything else bodywise sunroof especially) for my 91 740, it's white with black turbo trim. I believe any 7/9 post-90 works, ideally with the black trim.

Would anyone ever come across anything that would work for this? I have literally every single rare piece of this car ready to go NOS but for the life of me can't find any doors that don't have some rust somewhere, and the only 7/9 I've ever seen that was pristine steel was a recent import from BC (sadly it was the wrong colour and too nice to sacrifice for my cause)

I am obviously getting despacito here, if anyone could even just point me in a credible direction (I spoke with chapman but I think they were hesitant to send doors out so far sight unseen) any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

This should work - from an '81 240. For some reason I still have this even though I haven't had a brick for almost 5 years. Where are you located?

Gosh, has it been that long?

That bit looks like the piece that goes from the air dam to the
crossmember, and IIRC, it's specific to the pre-'86 air dam.

The splash shield fits in behind the crossmember.

This sure is splash shield weather. I have a sheet of alloy I've
been meaning to bend into one for years now. I even have a
cardboard template somewhere. I need to weld up some rust holes
before driving in the rain will be any kind of good though.

BTW, If that hood is causing you grief, let me know, it can clutter
my place just as well.

thanks for looking!

I have piece of alum I started bending but other projects got bumped up the list.

was hoping to get my alternator protected with all this standing water in our streets.

cheers
Pete
