What was Volvo's official TIRE SIZE spec for 240 Turbo/Virgo wheels?

+1 that is what i am told too

ie. a 185r14 (185/80r14) is about the same size as a 205/70r14 or a 195/75r14

if you're using the same tires all year, i wouldn't recommend something too wide, 'cus you will probably get stuck in snow (if you're in a snowy area) if its just summer wider can be nice, 'cept in the rain, might be a bit of a downer, hydroplaning and all

Correct, it's supposed to be 80 if not specified - but it's usually closer to 78 in reality.

anything wider then 195 and the 60 aspect ratio is way too tall unless you want all comfort and no control.

a 205 55 15 works well and and a 205 50 15 is also pretty nice

if you can find some 15x7 a 225 50 15 is a great tire size but less and less peformance tires are offered in it.

Here's a much better Tire Size and RPM Calculator, including rear-end ratio calcs

When you input 175/75R14 vs 185/60R/15, you will find change in speedometer of about 60.302 mph (about 0.3 mph difference), but with 175/80R14, you get 62.01 (about 2 mph difference) from a reference speed of 60 mph.

I would say 175R14 represents 175/75R14 since speedometer deviation-results are lower with 75 profile.
