Slammed to lifted 740 wagon

I took it out on the sand dunes yesterday and It works pretty well. The suspension is a bit stiffer than I like though. Once you're doing 80 it's okay, under that it's slightly stiff. Gravel roads are awesome. It absorbs washed out spots pretty well. I only aired down to 30psi and had no problems. The gearing is a bit high now for slow stuff. I need a couple new front tires so I'm trying to decide what I'm going to get. I'm thinking something MT still. Maybe Hankooks or BFG's and possibly in a 30x9.5 instead of 235/75. We'll see. I think I would need a small spacer to clear the strut tubes but I'd get another 1/2 of ground clearance. I think it would be cool to get some paddles and smoothies on it and go to Dumont haha. After tires, I'm getting a trailer and CR250. I don't really want to destroy it too bad, but it's taken all the beatings I've thrown at it so far. I'm definitely pleased.

that's what i'm going for.

holset+hole hood exhaust

that's a good statement. what would a 200k b230f make with one of those? i've been considering turbo since it's quite the slowpoke and it needs some more power. what would it require to have 250whp?

also, i'm happy you have John 3:16 in your sig. Praise Him.

Now, I need opinions. I've currently got 235/75's on it and will be lifting the front up another 1/2 inch and the rear an inch. I was considering bigger tires and a 4.56 ring and pinion. I can get a pretty good deal on BFG mud terrains which I've always liked. I'm thinking 30/9.5 or 31/10.50 and some wheel spacers for strut clearance. I've narrowed it down to these tires.

BFG Mud Terrains at $165/ea

Hankook Dynapro MT at $144/ea

Yokohama Geolandar MT at $114/ea

or in 31/10.50 The new Kevlar Wrangler at $167/ea

Thank you sir, I'm honored. You have inspired me to get all my trim pieces aligned. Your current 240 is amazing. With tires, I was thinking the same thing. They wear the best too so I think they're well worth the money. The question is 30's or 31's now. I hope not too many people have put either on a 740 before. I love undiscovered automobile territory.

I had geolander at IIs on my truck, hated them. The Goodyear mtrs are the best in my opinion, but they have a pretty hefty sidewall, and I would worry about the weight on a lifted car like this where everything is going to be stressed that much more.

What did they drive like? I've heard things about the geolanders that they aren't all that great. I like my mtr's right now but they don't make the old style anymore. The BFG's are light and grippy from when I had some on my truck. I liked them better than the Toyo MT's. They were way too heavy.

gonna get some 30x9.5 bfgoodrich mud terrains up on this. the front is going up another 1/2 inch and the rear another 1".

the volvo had tonight off. instead we all went up to bogus basin and had a drift session for a few hours. we had a turbo e36, 20b fc with a gt40, is300, ma61 celica, ae86, s13, te27 corolla, crx, mini cooper s, another 3 series bmw, and a 350z. the guy in the lexus let me drive for 10 runs or so. my plan is to buy a drift car again. here is an old video of us. i'm in the 240 with the red fender.

Praise Him indeed friend! glad to have you around here.

If the engine is in good shape, and you slapped a nice turbo on it, you would need:

injectors (55~+lbs/hr)
if staying 2.4, chips to deal with boost and timing (perhaps taking some more out because compression)
a good intercooler
a hilarious fabricator who wants to make it all come together.
a nice phat 4" exit coming out the hood
and defo an external wastegate, v-band ebay flavor for the cheapz.
I suppose you could *Try* one of those ebay manifolds: http://bit.ly/K1b8Xj
its made out of a different material (ss321) that should help it crack less, but maybe not. I always weld some more material around the collector and do some bracing. The flange needs to be flipped anyway.

for lols and perhaps something you might find inspirational, here's a few pictures of my 242. due to alot of problems and me being cheap it only made the power it did, and alot later then it should have due to once again, me not understanding how an engine works and not having much money. lol.

Well at least you were safe and went to a closed course to drift.

I ordered a couple of 30x9.5 BFG Mud Terrain KM2's today. They should be here next week. I'm trying to talk my friend into selling me his Sirius'. I need to buy another two tires next month and then figure out lighting or something. It needs a diff and higher gearing as well as a turbo. Plus, I've got to figure out how to get another drift car. I'm thinking a Lexus with a big ol' 2J.

I would never have thought a lifted 740 would look that cool, well done sir! Also, turbo it :)
