Looking over the ops last couple threads it seems that he?s got plans that may require that space, and the epas could run a manual rack and doesn?t have a pump dragging down the motor.

maybe but the guy who first(?) did an ls swap in his amazon was running the stock box. The biggest space issue on Amazon engine area are the upper control arms - they come in quite a bit toward the center

Oh yeah, suspension stuff is totally in the way, but the steering box itself, and the idler arm is in the way of all the accessory drive stuff, not to mention the relay rod restricting you to a single or maybe a double v belt. Looking for a good place for a ps pump, alt, and possibly an ac compressor can be a nightmare when looking into swaps, hell even just tossing a turbo on the b18-20. Going to a manual rack and epas, and you open up the front end enough to package everything nicely.
