Nice engine bay transformation- looks awesome!

Thank you very much. This one has been fun, slow and steady.

Damn! That looks so good!

Thanks!

Slow progress continues... Found a lower PS pump bracket, lowered the pump. Made a stainless cover plate for the wiper motor...for now, not sure what I?ll do there yet. Added a 1/2? spacer between the manifold and carb to avoid any throttle linkage headaches. The carburetor is mounted in place and ready to run. Pulled a Bosch 100amp alternator from a ?95 940 to replace the stock alternator.

Is that an unmodded china bay turbo header you are going to run NA?

If it is, I was thinking of doing the same thing on my 1800 if it clears:)

I love that you're spending the time to polish all these little parts, truly gonna be show car status afterwards.

When are you getting to the oil cap though??

Thanks Patrick, I?ve always enjoyed small but extra details on things. John shared that ?85 & ?86 b230s came with polished caps...on the hunt now.

Love this car. I wish I could find one as clean!

Thank you, I?m constantly reminded how fortunate I am to have landed on this the way I did.

Here?s this weekend?s project and current state. The only bit of rust was under the battery tray, angle grinder with wire brush wheel made a mess but easier work of it. I?ll shoot some POR15 tomorrow.

Finished the battery tray area repairs, I had the metal battery tray fully intact but opted for the plastic/fiberglass one from later years.

I originally thought I'd leave the majority of the car alone and not mess with anything, didn't take long for my one track mind to mess that up. I went ahead and 'shaved' the wiring properly on both passenger and driver's side inner fenders.

Nice work!!

Thank you! It?s been a fun project.

I finished relocating all of the ignition items under the passenger side dash.

Decided to swap the 100a Bosch for the smaller and from what I?ve read, a stronger performing Denso 100a alternator. Also cleaned it up a bit.

Finally, gave the rear dash some attention with some left over vinyl I had after making the door panels.

Wow, looking great! The vinyl was a good idea, I might have to copy that. I have a new carpet for mine, but that looks clean. And easier to clean haha.

Wow, that looks amazing. My ocd approves. I love the vinyl on the hat shelf/rear dash

Haha thank you. I too, suffer from OCD and my projects.

Please do. That was one of the main reasons I wanted to use vinyl, keeping it clean. Carpet is nice but can get a PITA to clean. A quick wipe down and this will look presentable again.

A small pause in life, the 242 will remain in storage for the next month or two while I find a new place to land, hopefully with a shop! Also picked up another project once the 242 is ?done?.
