Evil Penguin Wagon

Sorry about the lack of progress. After a total of 10 years working for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, I decided to accept a position with a company that was much closer to me when I was growing up in MN.... I will be moving to Racine Wisconsin to work for Case IH as soon as I can find a buyer for my moderately sized house in a nice golf course suburb with a 4 car air conditioned garage.

If by chance any of you need a house on the NW side of Houston that includes a big garage with a 2 post lift and A/C let me know.

On the bright side, now it won't matter if I never get the AC working in the wagon. :)

Not much progress due to lots of travel for my new job.

IAT installed
Fuel pump, filter, and lines done
Transmission cooler lines done
Battery box, disconnect, battery cables done
main power breaker & alternator wiring done.

Remaining before first startup:
cooling fan wiring
wiring for oil pressure, fuel pressure, and wide band.
remove the front cover and add a drain for the turbo
buy and install wastegate(s)
install wastegate controller
decide on what shifter to buy, probably PPP from California.

A bit later, somewhat anticlimactic

And after a few changes to the IAC and cranking fuel it starts a bit better.

I ordered a 50mm JGS wastegate. Still need to buy a shifter & bigger injectors, and get some better seats, and replace a bunch of worn out suspension parts.

I know I should have installed the turbo drain, wastegate & shifter before starting it, but I was needing a little motivation, so I cheated a bit...

Next part just showed up. Made in Oregon. :)

Took the timing cover off and added a #10 AN port for the drain

Got this fixed too:

It is a bit close, but will work.

Thread ending very soon

Sorry, but I made a mistake and used Photobucket for photo hosting.

Aparrently they have decided that they need $399 per year for this service , about $378 more than I currently pay... so I will be canceling my account with them in the very near future... probably about the same time as they try to take more money from me.

Sorry.

So Photobucket won't cut me off immediately because I paid for the storage in advance, I guess they are trying to avoid a lawsuit from paying customers...

Anyway:

The heater core leaked, when replacing it I found the blower motor was worn out... Oh well.

On the bright side, this showed up.

And a fake light, still looking for the bezel for the other side.

I also got the stock shifter to work, including the reverse lights and neutral safety switch.

Still need to finish a bunch of wiring and then find an electric speedometer and try to run it off of megasquirt.

We had some crappy weather at the house, so my wife decided we should evacuate....

Challenging my rather limited driving ability.

But it all worked ok, pretty much everyone there drinks lots of beer, so I fit in pretty well.

And thankfully even though we got about 40 inches of rain, the water stopped about 10" below getting into the house.

And wandering around in a slightly sketchy part of Dublin I found a guy to stamp me some EU license plates with anything I wanted. One for the wall in my garage, and one for a very close friend who likes cheesy car movies...

I couldn't find a reasonable price on an electronic speedometer so I gave up and put in a full display using a Pi & tunerstudio

Trimmed the plastic to fit the 10.1 diagonal screen.

Only dissappointing setback is the 4l80e pump whines a little too much for me.

Pressures and shifts are perfect, but the whine pisses me off so the transmission is going to have to come out again....

It sounds amazing man, we need more videos of it building boost.

Before you take out the tranny again, sometimes its just a clogged filter (though I assume you thought of that).
