Can We Get an Ultimate Parts Thread?

I don't buy much at real Volvo parts stores. As I don't like many brands for example I have some very bad experience with some Scantech stuff. I also don't buy much at the dealer, except some interior parts.

Engine i will go to Bosch, they still deliver very much for our old beloved cars. I bought last week 4 new injectors, as 2 were leaking. The dealer asks 240 euro for one. I now payed 180 euro original Bosch for all 4. 49 euro each minus 16 euro rabatt.

Front suspension I always get myself Lemforder/Mehle and Moog, never had any problems with Moog.

Gasoline/vacuum hoses, never buy them from Volvo. As they think they are made from gold. Just go to your local hydraulic store, around here we have Pirtek. All hydraulics lines can take fuel, I also use them for vacuum lines. Then its only 4 euro/meter instead of 35 euro at the dealer.

Brakes is always Bosch/TRW/Brembo on my vehicles. Once made the failure to put Scantech discs on the car. Within 2 months the car started shaking. Had a very hard time to bring them back. As they sad i drove through the water. Well so? That is what cars do and that is what disc brakes should handle. Never and I say never had this problem with Bosch discs. You can drive like ass and stop in the river with your discs below the waterline and then continue your ride and they will be all fine.

Can make 740 list if someone like, changed almost every part of my front suspension. Even Sachs, original supplier, still delivers everything. Much more comfortable then Monroe.

Gengras Volvo - my local Volvo dealer. Incredible service, gets GCP from Sweden far faster than Tasca. Perhaps my best resource. Loves 240's. Honors VCOA Card, matches Tasca prices. No restocking charge.
FCPEuro: Excellent service, quick shipping. Incredible returns policy.
Boston Village Volvo Parts: ps://www.volvovillageparts.com/. Very helpful. Excellent service.
Tasca: http://www.tascaparts.com/ Very helpful. I have never had a problem.
AutohausAZ: Ate rotors, Ate SL Dot 4 brake fluid, Febi CHF 11s, 202. Love the rotors. Excellent prices.
IPD: Great people but high shipping cost for me.
Rockauto: Gates hoses, Gates belts, oil and air filters, NGK plugs, rotor, cap, NGK wire set.

Gates are my favorite belts - the quietest so far. NGK BPR6EGP 7084 plugs best so far, much better than basic Bosch copper. Love the Ate rotors, Made in Italy stamped on them.

Our rides: 93 240 Classic Wagon, 119k; 93 240 Classic Sedan, 133k; 07 V70 2.4 158k.

"Volvo Car USA and SimplePart have recently launched the official Volvo USA Parts & Accessories program, now making it easier than ever for Volvo owners and enthusiasts to browse and shop for OEM Volvo products online. The national site connects users to the full, up-to-date catalog, then allows them to complete their order with their nearest participating dealer. And with more dealers joining the program daily, the genuine parts, accessories or gear that owners need are usually just a few clicks (or miles) away. "

Looks like lots of parts in the states but im looking for parts in the UK for my 940,I have used partsforvolvo who have been great for general service items but had problems last week getting exhaust manifold gaskets and studs and after trying various general parts suppliers ended up buying from main dealer.
The parts were pretty expensive but the main problem was they would not post out to me and living in a rural area this meant a 2 ? hour drive to pick them up.

Any UK recommendations would be appreciated.

Quality tune up parts

Here is a reboxed Beru cap from Intermotor a part of standard motor products. Beru makes high quality oem and aftermarket replacement parts. I didn't expect to see them reboxed but here they are. The same series has a rotor as well.

I have purchased these at Advance Auto. SMP - Intermotor manufactured by Beru.

Amazing how many cars used the Bosch 03010 cap design. The affordable Volvo tune up was one of the reasons I started buying 240 series. Before that I was into VW and had multiple beetles and rabbits that used the same cap.

FYI parts overseas and here in the US

More than once now. I've noticed that parts that are listed as discontinued here in the US I find them in stock at overseas suppliers. So be sure to check with skandix, cvi.se, and gcp.se if you come up with a discontinued part.

An example is I was looking for the spark plug wire holder on top of the valve cover. 1276710 comes up as discontinued on the Tasca parts catalog. Listed as in stock at gcp.se for like $2. So be sure to shop those overseas suppliers. Happy shopping!

I finally found a source for a matched pair of new tail lights for my 1986 740 Turbo:

go search for them on e-bay: the seller, govnuk, sells European made ones that are good quality.

Not sure anyone is updating the first page of this anymore, but the All-metal heater valve (with actuator) is available - ACDELCO 155320 for $28 from Rockauto.

I've had a very good experience shopping at the Culver City Volvo's webstore. Prices beat FCP and iPd and people in the area have an in-store pickup option, though I don't know if that's still a thing given COVID. You may have to wait for them to get stuff out of a Swedish warehouse, but they'll get them to you.

^^^^ Diddo for Culver City Volvo. Steve Irons, who handles web sales, is very knowledgeable. Keeping in mind that except for common maintenance parts, everything 2/7/9/850/70 is now "classic" and comes from GCP in Sweden, but seems to show sooner than it does if you buy from GCP direct, and freight is cheaper. As for maintenance stuff that is in the LA or other CA warehouses, orders are filled quickly and accurately.

FYI the tailight housing is slightly different on the 79-84 cars. In 85 Volvo added the rear fog lights and changed the lower outer bulb on each side to be a twin filament bulb. That handles the brake light and tailight function with the former brake light spot being the fog light. So you may have to move a wire or two in the connector to make the light work.

One of the guys recently posted a link to Nordicar a Volvo parts seller overseas. In browsing their site I see lot of aftermarket parts branded Vantage. Anyone use those parts? The pictures look nice.
