For him it was kind of a big deal giving Volvo (and BMW) folks the ink he gave us as it shows an openness that was a bit of a stretch for him.

I've read Hot Rod before.
The price difference isnt
Between a iron block and a aluminum block. The l33s are coming down a little in price

Freiburger on roadkill extra says that he despised his wife's Volvo station wagon and she didn't want to get rid of it

He said he hated the "Volvo wagon", I wonder what model?
well it's a known vs unknown thing to a certain extent... when I went engine shoppin', the L33 I ended up with was only about ~$300 more than a comperable iron block motor, BUUUT it had gen 4 internals, was lighter, and had 799 heads. To me, that was well worth the modest difference in price, all other things being what they are.
I think one of the main reasons some people want an LS over a SBF is that the LS is noticeably lighter, being aluminum and all
You do have to pay for that lightness, but it is worth it to me.
Non aluminum engine swaps which people call "LS swaps" are not true LS swaps by designation, afaik. Just shared architecture.
