Default 760 turbo wagon - my first :)

Hello everyone!

Im a newcomer here -

Just got a bargain - a 760 2.3l turbo for 428 EUR. My first rear weel drive and turbo car for my 7 years on road experience. It was baught for winter fun and - just enjoying the look on people's faces when the chick is going sideways on the track (shure, kidding) In the future - for the spring and summer - there are several adjustments planned, but not for now - have to get used to the such a big and rwd car.

As You can see on the pics below - great stand for stock car of 1989.. On the market values from around 1000 EUR in Latvia. It had no Technical Inspection - but yesterday went through smoothly

ride is very stabile, turbo is doing it' s job

Question:

When I started it this morning (outside temperature about 4-5 degrees Celsius) the rpms were below 1000 - never seen a cold engine when started been below 1000. . . Any thoughts?

Well, hope to build and maintain a fine 760 and meet you all one day!

Looks good!

The rpm issue could be a sticky idle motor. See if cleaning it out helps.

Thanks for warm welcome everyone

About Sparco - have in plan already, although the sticker is gone - for the Inspection not to notice the speedy soul of mine

Weels - Id like a 16" or 17" but as the witner's comming - not neccessary to change ones - the road condition is too bad - and they use salt for the ice and snow to melt - makes all the rust come out... in the springtime - sure will!!

About rear lights - I know - should change. Has anyone tried to put some clear glassed ones xenon (is there any for 760...?)? how big the hole in my pocket will be for those....?

Volvo's got awesome cold idle fuel maps and such. If the car runs fine in the cold and doesn't stall, your idle is nothing to be concerned about. If you are suffering drivability issues, look at the tuneup stuffs.

As for the clear lights, 95+ 960/V90s got clear lights you can drop in, but you'll have to go to the dealer for their special orange bulbs .

There are aftermarket lamps available (made by ScanTech, check w/ Hova). They probably take normal bulbs for the turn signals.

Also, check out the 95+ 960/V90 rear wiper cover. Cleans up the rear quite well, IMO.

To blarf:

lots of usable information - thanks ;)

About the cold starting - no problems so far at all - runs nice and smooth....!

Do you know where could I look for the correct engine code? As far as I know - the engine code is B230ET (182BHP) where can I check and how - is it the one..?

Hello there! Welcome to the forums!

To check the type of engine, have a look at the timing belt cover behine the fan. There should be a white sticker at the top which tells ya.
