I think this mod looks really cool and was pretty easy. I wanted a front grill that looked a little more like the metal ones from IPD.

Starting with a stock 240 grill. Separate the black part from the chrome part, six plastic push pins. Then pry off the Volvo emblem. Lightly sand and wash with soap and water. Use bondo or other epoxy filler to fill in the gaps where the Volvo slash was. Sand down and shape. Spray paint flat black. A few coats of flat clear paint and reassemble. I moved the horns down so they hide behind the bumper and painted the whole area black.

I'm stoked, I hope others think it looks cool as well.

ahh yes alot of newer 240s look like that. its a common thing to do. i was going to do that to my 240 but decided against it...the slash makes the volvo a volvo.

Nice! Looks really good.

Two years ago, I just cut the bars out, and put in some stainless mesh, then painted it black with volvo T4R chrome letters floating on the mesh... looked good until I went to flathood... I move the horns down under as well.

Slash it up my friend. You'd better have a bigass neon VOLVO sign comin offa your trunk!

Don't debadge your car.
A) it's obvious
B) people think you're ashamed
C) they may be stupid and think that some sort of kit car just smoked their Eclipse.

Volvo the **** out of your car 8-)

I want to do that with my grill. But it doesn't appear that the slash is embedded into the columns. I thought you could just cut it off and possibly repaint it.

Point taken. Not to worry I have all the emblems on the back--after a few more mods, that's all they'll see anyway.

Looks great. I really think losing the slash was the right decision.

i don't know why people are giving you a hard time about removing your slash. hell lets just everything stock.

but i think you did a good job with the bondo and it looks nice. like a nice factory aftermarket piece.

I was one of the cars at the orlando meet that didn't have the slash.

The slash and logo on my grille were so banged up that they looked really aweful.
On my grille I didn't have to fill anything in though.

Peace, Josh

the grille looks good with/without but I hate the huge VOLVO emblem on the trunk I always rip that off right away it's so big and dumb looking

Very clean looking. I have thought about it but not sure I have the patents (spl sucks) to pull the bondo work off.

the more i look at that grill the more i want to do it to mine.

what i want to do is remove that slash and take a thin piece of chrome and put it there, so i would still have a slash but it would be more subtle

Hmm ... Kyle ... get thee to a wrecker, with your grille in hand.
I think some of the earlier cars had quite a narrow slash, with a smaller Ovlov badge in the middle; you might be able to pick something up which'll drop-in nicely.

There's room behind the bumper for the horns; I examined that idea, but thought it wouldn't be loud enough, and sprayed the horn matte black instead. It doesn't stand out, but you can see it if you're looking for it.

That looks good, I thought about tring to find a egg crate grill off of a new volvo semi and somehow using that for a different grill

what i did was just flip it vertically and screw it back in on the lower part of that center bar just behind the bumper pointing down at the air dam.
