Default SD-X. The anniversary Demon

For the time being it will use the stock B21A engine and 4 speed gearbox,

All other the car is basically empty at the moment.
Many of the SD9 plans have been transferred to this car.

Bought the 142 cheap last year but always liked a 242 better so I kept looking for offerings.
October last year a person offered two 240's on a Dutch web market but he only wanted to sell them in one deal.
The 242 was taken apart and most rust spots had been repaired. The other car, a 244 as posted in the SD9 thread, was still in one piece. The person had bought it as a parts car mainly for the M46 gearbox.

Picked the car up somewhere October last year.

Although the welding was done OK by itself it wasn't done neatly. I concluded I'm wasn't talented enough to make it look better so I decided to take the car to a body shop. Plan was to have it painted in SD White (Volvo 189) anyway. The body shop also welded the roof and some other spots and the fender lips were flattened both front and rear,

Picked up the car just before X-mas,

Now the huge puzzle began. With the car came a huge pile of parts and nuts and bolts.
Suspension of the car was already in a nice condition,

Previous owner wanted to convert to LPG so installed helper springs.

Front axle frame and arms were powder coated,

Did some sand blasting and painting myself,

And decided to put the original engine in for the time being so cleaned the engine and did some cosmetic repairs,

A '91+ windshield was glued in,

Bolted the gearbox and engine back together,

and put it back in the car although the clutch condition is soso and the engine's compression is questionable.

Installed lowering springs last week and although the car is still pretty empty the results are a bit disappointing.

For now the puzzle continues putting back parts.

Interior will remain empty with one, maybe two, Sparco seats. iPD sways are on order. Car will receive 17x8 and 17x9 build to order rims with 225/45-17 front tires and 245/40-17 rear tires.

Once rolling and certified other changes will be made. Main focus will be driving behavior, and stance, at first and engine power after that. Power goal something between 250 and 300 crank HP.

Awesome!! Looks great, only thing that bothers me is the trim holes are plugged up, I think white car need the waste line trim to go with the window trim.

If needed a trim line can be glued on or a pin stripe. I wanted to get rid of the holes, not hoes, before paint. Same goes for the antenna holes.

Fit the blockoff plates, run no mirrors, paint the plates green.

I have a plate from a UK car for the other side, maybe I'll install that one this year and just install a convex rearview on the inside.

Without at least the driver side mirror the car isn't road legal.
The one thing keeping me from painting it green is that it is a complete mirror instead of just a cap like the 850 and C30. This way it will be all green up to the hinge instead of a black base. I think all green will look goofy.

Thanks! I always wondered 2..

Some minor progress,

Cleaned and painted some parts,

Paint still wet, it's semi-gloss.

Also put the engine bay wiring looms back in place but didn't clean the relay bracket yet. Just wanted to see what goes where.

IPD sways missed the boat and are on backorder, no ETA yet.

Sorry Mr. Borrie,

Although a new set on long overdue backorder I managed to get a used IPD sway bar set,

Should be 25/22 although the rear appears bigger. Hollow tube?

Why? To create more oversteer?

Large sways in the rear always create oversteer/ inside wheel lift issues with 240s.
Bigger front creates more understeer as well, but really the car will end up pretty neutral.
