Hey guys!
A little bit about myself: Just moved to Rhode Island from Florida. Looking to go Pro Racing sailboats. My most recent car is a 2006 Scion tC. I left the tC in Florida, one of these days ill get it shipped up. Probably around winter... Before the tC i owned a 2000 Acura Integra, and before that a 1974 MG B. Ive always had a thing for older cars as to why im here. Im looking forward to buy a new/project car. For some reason Volvo 240 wagon was the first thing that came to mind. I Have little knowledge about Volvos other than the fact that my dad used to have them when I was a child and he despises them now haha. But over all I consider myself quite handy with a wrench, a quick learner, and always up for the job. So far im looking into buying an 80s wagon. Much needed research on the engines and suspension. Id love to hear your guys comments, concerns and input. Thanks! 240 wagons are going for money these days. Especially in New England, don't expect to find a nice one for less than $3000. 7/900 wagons can be had for relatively cheap, they have more modern creature comforts than 240s, yadda yadda.
850s...are FWD, but you're coming from a background of FWD cars so I don't suppose you care that much. They have nice running engines and rattly interiors, especially the turbos in New England with their stiffer suspension on the ****ty roads... They are generally easier to get power out of, being a much more modern design than the redblocks in the RWD cars. YMMV. In any event, welcome.

One thing I forgot to mention - while whiteblocks may be generally easier to get power out of than redblocks, early (1976-1984) and late (1990-1995) redblocks are certainly more durable. Whiteblocks and middle (1985-1989) redblocks are about equal in durability, as far as power handling is concerned. Both bend rods rather easily.

10-4.. I love the 240s style so ill probably stick with them. Still searching for the right one and in the mean time learning as much as i can from you guys. Currently just viewing threads but they are all awesome and very helpful!
