The Story

The body and interior were in immaculate condition. Previous owner was an old Chinese man who parked it underground for 20 years. Took it out once a week on Sundays, didn't do much maintenance on it.

That, and he also slashed open the sagging headliner about a week before I bought it; his attempt at fixing it.

Go figure.

The car finally got some good use, and then stuff happened. A minor accident, a leaking heater core and cracked radiator showed up. Seals and rad hoses blew. Just stuff that should've been done over the years deciding to show up all at once.

Took a long while to fix it all up, then decided to get my hands dirty and learn how to do some work myself. The car ran beautifully for quite a while. Not bad for a 20+ year old car with just over 120,000 km (~74,500 mi) on the clock when I bought it.

Then I decided to really start modding it.

As my daily driver, suspension was the first thing that I built up. iPd sway bars went in pretty early and made quite the difference, followed later by the standard Bilstein and iPd mods. Lots of cosmetic bits in and out were put in. The rotting headliner and old sunroof were replaced with the trim, headliner and glass moonroof from a late-model 960 at a local junk yard. Now, toying with performance, but nothing outrageous yet.

My Feedback

mtd240: I suspect "the wives" have a super-secret forum to discuss whether or not they will let us buy Volvo parts.
DavidSamuels: Not a website, a panel discussion/reality show. Real Housewives of Gothenburg.

[QUOTE=+Kardboard+;3166477]

Last summer, I bought my first car.

Since then, I've discovered that while the body and interior were in immaculate condition, the old man who was the first owner and sold it to me didn't really do all that much maintenance on the LOLvo. That, and he also ripped open the sagging headliner about a week before I bought it in an attempt to fix it.

Go figure.

A few months, one minor accident and finally making the decision to spend more on the car, I'm here. Leaking heater core is fixed, howling, dying blower motor of doom is fixed, cracked radiator is fixed, this and that under the hood are fixed.

The car runs beautifully at the moment, and the only more-major things to take care of right now is a moderate oil leak at the rear main seal and some work on the rear brakes. Not bad for a 20-year old car with just over 127,000 km (80,000 mi) on the clock.

The few goodies I've got in there (or in my basement) at the moment:
  • cupholder armrest, coin tray (May 2010)
  • IPD Euro sidemarkers (Jun. 2010)
  • IPD 25/25 anti-sway bars (Jun. 2010)
  • Volvo dashmat (Jun. 2010)
  • 1991 E-code headlights, corners
  • 960 door handles
  • 960 mirrors
  • ipd 700-series headliner repair kit (Summer 2010)
how long till out of basement = into car?
looks clean man congrats love em prancin mooses or meeses or what ever the plural is

I have to say, I hate the 'electric beige' Volvos. But that just makes it all the better when they're in great shape and fast.

Good pics and nice car.

E-code headlights! Not in the best condition, a little dirty and a little cracked, but the lenses are still much sharper and clearer than my stock, yellowed, ones.

Update!

Gathering more stuff instead of studying:

Full exhaust (stock Turbo downpipe opening up to 3" pipe, Dynomax muffler, Mandrel bend side exit, also cat)

Tip from IPD's 850/S70 Turboback Exhaust

Got a snowcap (in white lol) and a roof rack too, on the car and ready for skiing!

But this is what's interesting today:

:-)

IPD sport springs on the way, a Perrin manual boost controller, as well as an SE spoiler, some painting for my existing parts as well as a possible new wheels from another local...

Now if only I didn't cheap out on that SE kit I could've had earlier.

Heh, but yours would be different from mine. I haven't really seen these non-fog E-codes around. Probably the one of few, if any, here in Vancouver.
