Default T5 Trans cooler, How big? Too big?

As i prep for the installation of the replacement trans, i wanted to add some better cooling. Here are some coolers i was looking at, and i wondered if it was possible to go to big or too cool.

Note that summers here can stay 90-100f for weeks a time.

What kind of trans/fluid temps are you seeing that lead you to conclude you need a cooler?

I think I may be confusing "T5" -- as in the model 850 you have (auto tranny?) with a "T5" manual trans that is often swapped into the rwd bricks. Which tranny in which car are you talking about?

Yep that's funny that the general assumption, when hearing "T5" is a NON VOLVO part....

I made that same assumption when I opened this thread.

I didn't think cooling a manual was even a thing, didn't cross my mind that it would get confuzzled

i would think, as big as you can fit, would be the ideal answer

That was my mind set before i thought bout fluid restriction and possibly running it too cool. i figured maybe i can cover part of it when the weather is cool kinda like what they do on big rigs in the winter.

I'd do some more searching and find out what the ideal fluid temperature would be (I know i've seen it posted, it shows when it starts to break down)

if the cooler works too well, add a thermostat, just like what is done to oil coolers

i figured you would be limited on size to begin with, you prolly can't easily fit one that's "too big"

but that's just a guess

I decided to go with http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details

Here it is after some tinkering this weekend. I still need to do the bottom bracket and then cut and paint them so they don't stick out so much. Also, i need to find a new home for that other horn.

Well, it works well unless its under 55F then the trans needs to warm up other wise it stumbles and the arrow will flicker and if i don't take it easy goes to full on flash. Once warmed up tho it works great, trans even locks the the TC, and that requires a minimum temp to do. I guess ill get on installing a thermostat or some sort of way to dampen the cooling effect on chilly mornings.
