On my newly acquired 850, NONE of the center console lights function with the exception of the window switches, which all work.
This includes the sport/econ shift button, shifter light, etc. This working/non-working pattern seems slighlty suspicious to me. Is there a stand-alone fuse or relay that controls center console illumination? Mille gracias PS I fully realize I might have to yank the thing up and replace the bulbs, but wanted to do my vetting first |

Common proble on these. Nothing to be suspicious about. The shifter light sucks to do and the previous owner didn't wasn't to spend the money. On the 850, you can just pull the shifter down and it locks into drive so no need to look down and see what gear you are in

Here's the rub, though - doesn't the econ/sport button have its own integrated LED? Mine doesn't light up. I find it somewhat unusual that neither the econ nor sport lights would work, given that the PO drove it for 11 years in econ mode. I.e., why wouldn't the sport LED light up? That's what got me thinking about something other than burned out bulbs all around. |

I wish I could recal for certain on the econ/sport switch LED, as I had pulled the center console out of my 850 to cover it in vinyl.
I can say its not to difficult to pull the console. worst part is getting the window switch box out. If the LED's are intergrated into the econ/sport switch you could find a used one. The window LED's Im pretty sure are intergrated as the window switch is 1 self-contained box. I dont believe there is a single fuse for only the lights on the center console tho. There may be a seperate plug to power the LED's on some of the switches tho. Best thing is to pull the console....replace the bulbs you can (like the shifter light) and see if it works with a new bulb. If it doesnt work with a new bulb then you could have a wiring issue. as I can recall: there is a bolt by the cig lighter and the OBDII port(assuming its a '95+) you pull the seperate piece under the parking brake. I believe there were 2 bolts under the coin/ash tray. and 1 bolt under the arm rest cover. been awhile since i had my 850 tho, but i think that was all to allow the center console to come out.

Thanks. I have the directions to do it bookmarked someplace. I'm roadtripping soon and was hoping for an easy fix (HAHA) before I left. I have to stage 0 it first before I really dive into these trivial issues.
