When I pull a crank gear or a gear set at the junkyard, I often snip up pieces of plug wire and shove it into #1. Just remember to do that before you remove the bottom half of the head.

Worst case scenario, I pick up a crank gear from someone else. Is it a bad idea to break the bolt tension on the cams with a tensioned t-belt?

Don't forget the ignition computer (EZK), mounted under the steering coloumn.
You won't be able to run the engine with only a fuel computer. |

Good point. Even though the '90 240 is LH2.4, and the car I'm pulling from is a 91?

If doing a stock 16v conversion, you'd want to start with the 16v ECU and EZK, they have different maps than the 8v n/a or 8v turbo.

If you plan on running a N/A 16v engine. B234F ECU and EZK.
Otherwise B230 turbo ECU + 16v EZK. |

Turned out the '91 940GLE they had was actually a 940SE (aka 960 Turbo). No cheap 16v for me :(
