Default 1031 or 1041 for turbo 940

I have a 940 which I will be +t ing soon, it has a 4.10 1031 single spinner in it, should I swap it for a 1041 G80 with 3.73? Which would be quicker for quarter mile times in a turbo 940 with an AW71 and 15G? Which would get quicker 60 foot times? I would also do the locker mod if I got the G80.

to make things easy on you I'd swap the ring gear onto the G80. Otherwise you'll need to setup the rear end with the 3.73 pinion, and unless you know what you're doing it's not nearly as easy a bolt in as swapping the ring gear onto the diff.

I think overall the 3.73 will be faster, you might be able to stay out of OD that, and less traction issues than with the 4.10

But I really don't know **** about **** for drag racing.

Check out a gear calc and see when you'd be shifting at what speed/rpm for the 2 rear end gears. There's a thread here with the AW71 ratios.

Thanks I was thinking swap it to the G80. Even with the 4.10 gears it won't go into overdrive down the quarter mile. I would swap the whole assembly to the G80 since I have it already. Bolt out/lockermod/bolt in

go down to a jeep wrecker and look at the dana 30 diff centers. if your lucky youll get a limited 3.91 or locker if youre only racing in streight drags. upgreade to dana 35,40,44 is worth consider. as is hilux lsd axle conversion {4.5pcd/decent h/brake} keep us sticky...

I would rather keep it all volvo nice and simple since I have the G80 locker already and it will bolt in easily and I won't have to muck about with changing centres, that's mostly what people are using with turbos I have found

i ran 12.7 with a 15g and a 3.73 i would cross the line right at the end of 3rd gear at redline and that worked out nice.

Looks like I'll need the 3.73 G80 since running 12 seconds with a 4.10 means going into overdrive, thanks for the good info
