I am installing coilovers today. As part of the front suspension upgrade I am replacing the wheel bearings with SKF bearings that I ordered front FCPgroton. I replaced the races no problem. Packed the bearings no problem. By the way this is my first set of bearings I have done. I go to put the hub onto the axle and the inner bearing (one closest to the strut does not fit over the spindle. It is beyond snug. Gentle tapping with a hammer does not move it on. Am I missing an important step? Or did I some how get the wrong part for the hub assembly. I am going to go measure the difference right now but I wanted to get a jump on this as I need a working car come Monday.
Thank you in advance. PS any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

What you could do is to take the old bearings and seal to a good bearing shop. They can get the make and numbers on the old bearings and match them to a good quality new set.

Small update.
I measured 4 other sets of inner bearings and just like Towerymt posted they were all 1.375". They all fit very snuggly on the spindle. The part numbers match up so I am guessing I just got one that was out of spec. I am going to throw in the best looking old bearing and race and call it a day for now. Cheers |
