Good news! I just received confirmation that the first batch have left the manufacturer, and are on their way to the powdercoaters! So, depending on how backlogged the powdercoater is, they SHOULD be in stock and ready to ship sometime next week or so!

What does an all-aluminum LS weigh dressed vs. an iron block LS? A dressed 6304 weighs 450 lbs. for what it's worth. That's an actual weight as I weighed one, not from a manual.

Wren, here's a forum thread I found that has a LOT of engine & engine/trans weights in it:

http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?showtopic=59086

2001 5.3l iron block : 516.8 lbs
MINUS:
Flywheel, A/C pump and bracketry, P/S pump and bracketry, Alternator and bracketry.
Scale was zeroed with lifting chains for each weigh;

Same engine minus the cast iron exhaust manifolds - 490 lbs. Subtract ~100 lbs for the alu block, and you're right under to 400 lbs. Based on rideheight alone, I don't think I gained hardly any weight in my car. Sadly, I never weighed the car afterwards.

Oops -- we found the same site!!!! My bad edit....

Some decent documented weight info (all types of motors) in this thread... http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?showtopic=59086 From the thread below --

MINUS;
Flywheel, A/C pump and bracketry, P/S pump and bracketry, Alternator and bracketry.
Scale was zeroed with lifting chains for each weigh;
516.8 lbs.

Good news V8Volvos fans! Due to overwhelming demand (and the fact we still don’t have them in stock, we had to raise the original order quantity), we’re extending Pre-Order pricing for 2 more weeks! Get your orders in today, don’t wait, save some $$$!

To be fair, the link is totally buried in an "About" sub-link on the main page, it's not even accessible from the forums!

Here it is: http://www.turbobricks.com/donate.php

Even better news - confirmation that I'll have them IN STOCK next week!!! All existing pre-orders will ship by the end of next week. Pre-order pricing will END next Saturday. Grab one of the few remaining kits from the first batch before the pre-order sale ends!! And yes, I'll have pictures , finally :/

And BTW - if anybody has ANY issues with the V8Volvos website order process, please email me directly - ken@v8volvos.com. Everytime we add stuff there's always a bug or 2 we don't find right away, and input is always appreciated. Thanks!

They're home! Pics to come, we took some puuurdy ones yesterday, but they're home! The last of the hardware bits should be arriving today, and then they'll be boxed and ready to start shipping out.

I've tried to find out who the site admins are, but nobody seems to know. Can you point me to an email address or a screenname maybe please? Is there any difference on this site between a vendor and a contributing/donating member? I've said repeatedly I'll happily contribute, I just would like to speak with somebody that actually runs the site to know what the rules really are.

Regardless, thanks for taking the time and investment to make parts for our cars. As far as I know, no one else is making them, for me that is a contribution to the site in itself.

http://www.turbobricks.com/donate.php , unless it's changed

as far as I know, there is no "vendor" specific donation....
