Well then there is a silver lining. If you wanted to paint it eventually anyway, and not preserve the patina, then it's good that this happened. It helps pay for the paint job, and pushes to go the distance right now and not put it off. The crash damage looks pretty minor, like a new fender and bumper will probably fix it all. That's a lucky break.

Yeah. It is original paint on some of the car. I do want to keep that.... But the headache of doing things twice. I can't stand redoing a project. Do it right the first time.

We will see how well they match the paint.

Rust on windshield and lower rocker will be on your dime. NADA $11,000 impressive. Nice car, people suck. GL with the settlement.

Spray the whole car for sure if you're going to paint most of it.

FYI the NADA really doesn't mean much, the ins co. will use their own metrics to determine a value. As someone mentioned previously you'll need to push them to hire an independent appraiser.

Yea if you can find a straight rust free early fender to work with.

Not so common as they were just 10 years ago...

Anyway good luck with the repair, and I'll watch in the yards for a good 75-80 DS fender for you.

Later early fenders won't have the holes for the emblems or grill surround trim, and they get holes for the eyebrow trim over the filler trim as well so the year range isn't just 'early' 75-82 for commando bumpers but 75-79 afik.

Not that a good body shop couldn't figure it out, but you want to get them as close to prep and shoot as you can.

On the bright side socal / desert metal is going to be as rust free as any you're likely to find.

Stick on emblem, & eyebrows.

Grill surround, stick on emblems & drilled anchor GL wheel arch trim.

Grill surround, drilled in Emblems & drilled anchor GL wheel arch trim.

And finally drilled emblems & grill surround trim like yours.

I contacted a few on here...

Body shop needs help getting parts.

I am hoping they can use a certain shop contact and he can collect some profits from this as well.

No doubt as it's too old to come from LKQ rolling around in the back of the Tacoma in 'workable' condition. [Read scratches with cherry dings]

Yep.

So the lady who hit me was distracted by her phone... she admits it also... cop didn't write a ticket... go figure that one.

I gave them a few people to contact if needed.

Thanks everyone for the help. Means a lot to me.

Cop is both wrong and an *******. I would escalate that up his change of command. Then again, I do like to pick fights.

Update...

I had problems with the current body shop. Found a local shop that does classic cars.
He does excellent work. He will be able to repair the fender. He prefers to work with the original parts when he can.

That's good news. Still really bummed to see this happen. Like many people on here, yours is one of my favorite cars on TB right now.

Metal work is supposedly done on the car. Parts have been shipped to body shop.
Shop will test fit parts then it will be painted.

Update and rant...

The other insurance company has yet to make a determination on who's at fault.

Their 40 days of legal stalling has come and went. The DOI have been notified.
The DOI will get involved now it's past the 40days.

Police report, my insurance company, and the lady being distracted put her at 100% at fault. Why her insurance company is delaying is simple. They don't want to pay for anything they don't have to.

Car rentals fees and storage time (if applicable) they will not cover for any delays. Her insurance company has been nothing but rude to me through this whole mess.

We'll see what the DOI determines soon, but the car should hopefully be done sometime this or next week.

I guess I should get my new engine made for the car so I can finish the boost project and this car can be done.

She hits me. Crinkles the fender. And I have to suffer over a month of back and forth with these incompetent companies, trying to figure out what I already explained to them... mean while, her new pos SUV is probably fixed and she is on her way. Insurance is a scam. If we weren't forced by law to have insurance, I'm pretty sure more people would not have it and they might be a little more responsible when They should be driving.

/end rant

Hoping that I can skip taking them to court, but they are really pushing me to take legal action.

Forgive the spelling and grammar. These crappie products have horrible spell/ grammar corrections.

Tomorrow's a new day, but unfortunately, I can't enjoy the short commute to work because of this pos rental.

/really end rent this time. Lol

Most of the parts are at the body shop now. He is fitting them and the car will get painted tomorrow.

If the last few missing parts are acquired in time, the car should be done by Friday.

Then the battle with the insurance company will still continue....
