trimless 700 series

I thought about it when doing the s90 conversion. I was going to fill in the holes and re shoot both sides. With the trim removed it just looks too blah the trim helps break things up.

That's what I thought. Well I am going to have to put it back after it has been painted and after I remove the dents from the doors. Too much work. I was going to fill the holes. but with body filler.
Thanks

i Pshoped mine away will be removing once i start bodywork

yep nice wagons. Wish my sedan was the equivalent of the blue one. I think the lower body kit on both cars helps a lot with the look now that they don't have the side trim anymore.
That white one is really low!. I think you'd loose your fillings riding that in my area.

I'm curious if you guys have pics of your cars with the side trim on? Must be easy for southsideslider since you pshopped the car

Thanks for your input

good suggestion. But this might be harder to make them disappear. I'll check how they can be removed also.
To fill the holes should I use bodyfiller? Will this work fine or do I HAVE to weld the holes?

I removed the side trim from my '85 745 wagon, but left the indentation. I actually like the looks of the indentation as they fit well with the volvo body kit. Pic is in the sig, though I can post more later if you are interested.

take care,
simon

i too have removed the door and fender trim, i haven't filled the holes yet tho. pretty sure it needs to be done with a welder tho, since there's nothing behind the holes to give any sturdiness to whatever body filler you might use.

The only way trim is going back on the car is if i get my hands on some nice 960 or v90 trim.

The indentation doesn't look too well without a bodykit. But OTOH I did not finish removing it all. With the body kit it looks rather nice if I base myself on the PSHOPPE picture of the blue wagon
I got a welder but I ain't got the skills yet tofillin the holes. Maybe try to make some rounds of steel to weld them in the holes. I'll check what I can do.

I want to see this too. Since the door has a recess in it anyway it won't look too slab-sided IMO if you remove the trim

This is my '85 745 V8 with the side trim removed and filled. I left the horizontal indent as I thought it went with the aero kit and the squareness of the rest of the 700 series design.
