I got a GT!!

Just ordered Bens camber plates and quick steer roll correctors, and my coilovers should be done next week! Anybody that has 1 or 2 bilstein or koni gland nuts they don't need let me know I need some.

Fogs and grille will be back don't worry. The grille was just all cracked and broken, gotta give it a little love. I don't think Im going to kill the GT-ness of it just not gonna put the stripes on it. Someone will be able to add them later, not that I think I'll sell this car any time soon.

Edit: If I find a cheap R-Sport gauge cluster you'll at least get some business out of me

Nice starting point. I had one just like it back in 1989. When I repainted it I eliminated the stripes. In perfect shape, they look good, however, I think they look much better without the stripes. I also removed as much of the red/orange interior trim as possible from my GT. I got mine from an insurance auction because it had hit a deer taking out the grill, head light door and wrinkling the passenger door. Even in 89, it was near impossible to find the grills.

Ooh I love the GT interior, Probably the only thing I'd change is the steering wheel. I wouldn't mind some different seats but I think Id have to do something to make them match the rest of the interior.

Why not just get a DL if you're gonna take away all that makes the GT a GT...IMO.

How many reasons do I have to come up with to please the purists on the board. 1. Because the alternative was that this car would have headed to a wrecking yard in 1989 and would have been long gone. The GT stripes were not available in 1989. Ever paint a car? What do you think it would have taken to duplicate the GT paint scheme as far as time and materials? 2. This was still a $5,000 car in 1989. I didn't intend to keep it as a museum piece. It was a daily driver that got me to and from the college while I was working on my engineering degree. I sold it to a classmate of mine as his son's first car. His son took fantastic care of it during the time he had it. It's easy to criticized other's cars and effort while sitting in your armchairs. This car lives on. I actually ran into 3 years ago when it had been sent to a local wrecking yard. I couldn't believe it. The car was so trashed I would not have known it was my car other than a repair I had made on the underside of the hood to reinforce the hinge area. I had the yard manager pull the title and hold the car. Someone else on this board got the car and put a later B230 and LH 2.2 system in it. It has actually popped up on craigslist a couple of times in the past year. It keeps going from one Volvo nut to another. At this point, there is nothing left of the original GT scheme.

Crappy teaser pic. Finally got my shortened struts back, and Bens camber plates and roll correctors came in the mail! I know the spring hat isn't on in the picture, Im gonna have to get my cutlass supreme strut inserts machined a little to make them work.

Finally got the car back on the road!

Ones got some curb rash and one is slightly bent. Im gonna sand blast them, polish the lips and possibly paint the centers GT orange. Trying to decide on whether or not that would be too much.
