Just thought id share my ride/history

My last project was a 88 ford thunderbird turbo coupe which has a 2.3 turbo stock. Company called Stinger sells pre assembled Microsquirts ready to go for old obd 1 fords, which they called P.i.m.p. (now they are selling MS3s). I had gotten a used Pimp and ran it in my Turbo Coupe for a year or so and it was a great learning experience.
Now my latest project is a ?85 240 wagon with a 5.0 swap that had a 89 Ecu in it. Car ran okay after we fixed the mechanical stuff. But I had the itch again (creams don?t work) so I got another used Pimp.

After dealing with a bad AEM X Series gauge out of the box that was putting out 4.50 volts constantly, I got a replacement controller/gauge and I got the correct signal coming from the analog wire (DON?T FORGET TO GROUND THE BROWN WIRE lol).

Car is running now on the PIMP via tuner studio on a base tune. The engine is stock with the exception of mildly ported stock heads and a big fuel pump. I figured let me tune as I get parts and learn the system.

Ironically enough I have 2 other buddies with Pimps in their 2.3 turbo powered Fords as well (SVO mustang and 88 turbo coupe) and im the computer guy so ill be messing with their ecus as well. The latest one might have a bad ignition driver but im working with Stinger now to figure that out for sure.

Ill def be poking around in here for tips and hints on getting Tuner Studio going

Are you monitoring knocks? Dyno tuning it?

Not sure if this one is capable of monitoring knocks but at the moment no.

I would love to try my hand at dyno tuning but really not ready for that yet. Still need to learn Tuner Studio way more before I spend money on a dyno sesh you know. Not to mention the car is almost bone stock so its not quite worth it.

In the future I really want to find a dyno shop here in CT that would be willing to me play around with the tuning.

Well, only way to learn is read and play it more.

If you have specific question, here is where you'd go. http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=122

Will do and yeah I agree messing around with it is the best way. Im also working on my buddies 88 tbird turbo coupe with the same style ecu but it has a ignition driver problem I think so were working on the no spark problem on his car.

KnocksenseMS talks to Microsquirt.
