Front strut mount question?

Hello, I have a Volvo 244 with a set of B4 Bilsteins coming. I am going to use my factory springs...

I have done a couple hours of research on front strut mounts and have found some weird conclusions.

One guy said Volvo stopped producing genuine front strut mounts over 6 years ago.
He says that the ones that are claimed to be OEM are actually all from Asia.

FCP, IPD, Pelican, etc all have "genuine volvo" front strut mounts.
It seems like he visually inspected 5 or so different brands, a lot which can be found on RockAuto and sites alike.

I have read that 240 diehards swear by Kaplhenke's
https://www.bneshop.com/collections/240/products/240-spherical-offset-strut-mounts

They are offset and I am not sure if they are appropriate for me. I do not by any means want to lower my car or mess with the steering/alignment where I then need things like adjustable upper rear control arms etc. I just don't want to constantly have to replace front strut mounts, the bearing replacement seems attractive, even though I have read strut mounts are pretty easy to replace. I have also read many forums where people installed these backward due to lack of instructions or markings.

I do not want noticeable clunks every time I go over bumps. I am in South America. I am also interested in putting a spacer to give a little extra ride height, even though I have some removal of the power steering pump but not ac...

What should I do?

But what front strut mount would I add these too...Can anybody else pipe in?

The other part of the equation I'm interested in is a slight spacer lift 1-2" for increased ride height for my part of the world.

instead of using the spacer for the struts. I woudl suggest getting a set of volvo strut plates along with the plates mentioned above. That raises the car about a 1/4". Then use the 1229337 GT also called turbo front springs. They are a bit stiffer than stock and keep the front a bit higher. I've used them for many years. They were sold by FCPEuro and other venders like Skandix.

People have tried the volvo sourced strut mounts and have not been happy. The plates from 15A work great to buffer the rubber so it won't stretch and fail. Use that plate and the standard Volvo reinforcement plate together to strengthen and raise the car 1/4".

I would also suggest a set of upper and lower GT braces to help your car handle rough roads. The lower braces go from the crossmember to the rear bracket for the control arm. The upper braces are from a strut mounting stud to the firewall. You can make them braces or there are venders selling repro. I don't think volvo sells them anymore.

There are even more steps you can take to strengthen the suspension. Boxed lower control arms and boxed rear control arm brackets help as well. In the rear people box the rear trailing arm. Yoshifab sells pre cut plates for welding on to your suspension pieces.

Do you know the part number for the standard volvo reinforcement plate?

So..just 15A's plates and a reinforcement plate? No other hardware, what specific bolts are required for this?

The 240 Offset Spherical Strut Mounts can be drilled for a stock spring, you just have to request it when you put your order in. It really is a long lasting solution. I plan on doing it to all my cars.

Hi folks I have another freshman question about strut mounts. Has anyone tried the Moog mounts? https://drivcat.com/overlays/part-detail.aspx?brandId=MC&pNum=K9662&partType=Strut%20Mount

If so then did the studs that came with the Moog mounts seem long enough to fit Yoshifab 240GT strut tower plates and strut-tower braces on top? I ask because I plan to change front coil springs on my 245 very soon. This will be my first attempt. I have so far purchased a spring compression tool, Yoshi plates and lower chassis braces. I am now about to purchase a pair of Lesjofors front coils and new strut mounts so please help me out if you can.

Thanks!

*Edit - I just looked up the price for those things and one mount seems to be $90-$100 so the $185 Kaplhenke ones don't seem all that expensive. Or is that $185 for each mount...

*Edit 2 - KgTrimning has these https://www.kgtrimning.org/200-ser-1/chassie-parts/suspension/springs/fl240.html

Two for $185 total. Put them on both my cars with stock springs and no issues. The new revision even has markings so you can't screw up. Seems like all the new rubber mounts have issues with their bonding to the metal parts. My last set of OEM Volvo mounts lasted 6 months. It's not a job you want to have to do over often.
