David Bowie's 1981 Volvo 262C Bertone Coupe that Sold For $216,000

"This car was delivered on June 18th 1981 to the musician David Robert Jones (David Bowie) and registered in his name on June 22nd 1981 with the license plate VD 122 922. In 1985 the 262 C was registered to the Bewlay Bros. S.A.R.L - the record label of David Bowie and Iggy Pop - and continued to be used by Bowie during his stays in Switzerland with the plates VD 267 584. In 1998 the car was finally taken over by the current owner. The original service booklet and a copy of the first vehicle registration are available. Fully equipped with automatic transmission, leather, aircondition, power windows and Volvo Hi-Fi System with Blaupunkt speakers. 53‘000 km, very good and well maintained original condition."

The euro spec 81 Bertone is the ugliest of the ugly Bertones imo

^ I prefer the look of the US spec coupes. The bumpers and grille to me are a better fit.

Rada +1..The 242 just looks so much better...I've never liked the Bertone rear window/c pillar look. The pop out windows are so much cooler

Y’all missing the point. This was Bowie’s car in the 80s. Driving around Switzerland doing crazy 80s drugs chain smoking cigarettes the action this thing must’ve seent I love it.

Used this to justify to my wife why it was worth driving 6 hours one way to buy and haul home a $250 ‘78 262. Her response was basically “Now you just have to become a famous rockstar and die.” 😂
