Question question about bne 240 strut mounts and spring perches

When we went to install these strut mounts today, it looks like there is an extra piece. The orange retaining ring...the instructions on the site don't really match up to what we have. We ordered the pre assembled spring perches.

Once assembled, the passenger's side is not sitting square (as the driver side) in the strut tower and is binding when turning the assembly to the right. The spring is hitting the strut tower at the top rear.

What are we missing? It looks like the strut mount is off by about 1/16 of an inch on the passenger's side and that's keeping it from lining up right.

Hi

The yellow bearing assembly is the same piece as the black one in his instructions.
First place that on the aluminium unit with the widest side in against the aluminium.
Then fit the orange spacer/retainer inside the yellow unit between it and the aluminium housing.
Finished...!
Then assemble the rest of the parts.

The orange spacer/retainer does not fit inside the yellow bearing.

The orange piece retains the luxe bearing to the spring perch, this keeps the bearing from coming apart if it gets yanked on. It clips on to the groove of the strut mounts

Quick question, are you sure you the driver side spring perch and the passenger side perch on the correct side?

If you are using the O position, and you can not adjust it away from hitting the strut tower, aka it has too much caster, you can try the star setting.

The left and right are correct.
So, the orange clip is supposed to hold the thrust bearing and yellow piece in place?
Or just the yellow piece? And will any of that really move when it's under the spring pressure?
Really confused and don't want to take all this back apart if it's not necessary.

The yellow piece is the thrust bearing.

It just keeps the roller bearing from separating during installation, if your spring is not slack at full extension than the retainer will not be performing any action.
