![]() I am trying to free steering box from column. There is a sleeve that connects it to the bottom
of the steering column. Any advice how to free the pictured sleeve. Is there a pin I need to knock out? Thankx much. ![]() |

![]() Hi, no pin in there. 2 holes on the nut are for specialized tool. I had to remove the box with shaft from car. Disconnect at rubber connector higher up. Put lower (solid) shaft in vice, penetrating oil and some heat, then pipe wrench on nut.
You’ll have to deal with the horn wire which is inside the steering column and a fiddly job to reinstall. Also good time to check the rubber connector to ensure it isn’t failing. Last edited by c1800; 02-17-2021 at 01:57 PM.. |
