![]() Sorry if this is a noobish question but can I run this setup:
Option #1: Standard 850 T5-R (240/250HP) clutch setup. Good for up to almost 420NM. Clutch disc, organic, 20 splines, 240mm, Sachs p/n: 1862 428 133. with a redbock and dual mass? As for the time being I won't be upgrading the flywheel and Im making around 220-230bhp Pressure plate, 240mm, Sachs p/n: 3082 254 232.

![]() I think the normal dual mass clutch should work for that amount of HP. iirc the clutch that came out of my parts car (1995 940 with M90) was the same as an 850 2.4T something.

![]() The pressure plates are significantly different for dual mass vs single mass, but I don't know for sure about the clutch plate itself. The clutches for the single mass have springs in the hub while dual mass often don't, so there's that as well.
I agree that the stock clutch will be fine.

![]() Hi, has anybody checked this setup:
- solid flywheel from m46/m47 lh 2.4 - pressure plate 940 diesel m90 with 20splines - 850 glt 228mm clutch disc? I can't find used tdi m90 clutch disc to go for sinter. Can I use 850 glt 228mm disc with no issues? |

![]() The disk should work fine although as for how long it will hold up depends on what mods you have done.

![]() can somebody repost a picture of the flat/solid flywheel used in many 850's and early S/V70's that will fit my whiteblock with m90 gearbox and 240mm clutch?

![]() This is a '97 850R flywheel purchased brand new, part number 9454774. Also the R clutch kit, p/n 272218. I have a used one in my garage right now and the wear pattern does appear to be 240mm, or 9.44 inches.

![]() Just found a bloke in Germany who can supply the Sachs 765 pressure plate. Should be about £200 shipped to UK. Should be able to post to USA too.

![]() Brilliant, thank you!
I'm going to make a mock-up in cardboard to see if it fits the transmission tunnel. ![]() Last edited by Danish; 03-10-2016 at 06:02 PM.. |

![]() Does anybody know if the 850R flywheel will work with the Motronic 1.8 sensor in my '91 960?
I did read that the M90 swap would work with any 5/6 cylinder whiteblock, but I just want some clarity. I have a donor '95 960 with an M90 and the 850R Clutch Kit on its way so its just the flywheel that I need to source now!! ![]()

![]() Are there any photos of what this welding of the third gear synchro in an M90 s all about on here still? In the first part of this thread the photos are no longer there. I can't get my head around what this mod is exactly, I suspect the term synchro ring is perhaps ambiguous? Thanks

![]() I searched a bit through this thread and couldn't find a specific answer and now time is of the essence. I have my m90 mounted into my 93 945t, I have an M47 front half driveshaft since it mounts to the m90. I want to confirm the m47 driveshaft will properly fit into the back half of the auto driveshaft; splines, carrier location, etc.
My intent is to have the m47 shaft lengthened to fit the m90 |

![]() I have the front half specific M90 prop shaft.... PM me if you want OAL dims, etc. The donor was of course a 9 series in the UK.... should be exactly what you need.

![]() Just to update. Around me there was one place who could do it, and it was going to run 300 plus because they would need to ship it elsewhere to have it balanced. Instead of hassling with that I bought a complete m90 driveshaft from ebay Germany for 300 shipped.

![]() Can someone help with a couple of M90 questions please?
I have a B5254T3 engine, and an M90 gearbox. First question... do I need a spigot bearing in the end of the crank when I mate the two together? There's nothing there at the moment, but other non-Volvo engines I've worked on needed one. ![]() Also, the engine came with a box of stuff which included a rusty flywheel. It fits onto the engine OK, so I've had it zinc plated and fitted it to the engine. I'm not sure what type it is, so I'm not sure which clutch I should buy. ![]() ![]() Any advice welcome, thanks! |
