Any use these to build coilovers?

So the only thing holding onto the coilovers are friction when you tighten it down? Idk man, looks like it might work but I wouldn't trust them

That's how most modern McPherson struts are retained (at least in my experience -- mostly BMWs).
They are usually a bit more robust looking than that, but I'm no materials analyst.
