Andrewhans 240 LS Swap, Going for 8's

Had a weird feeling about the injectors so I sent them off to Eric Derr to get flow tested and cleaned. $75 for 8 tested, cleaned and shipped back. $115 for 16. He does excellent, fast work.

I'll post up the flow sheet of the Bosch 210's and any photos if he sends them. Injectors should get to him on Wednesday and hopefully I can them back this weekend or maybe Monday/Tuesday. We'll see.

Got the car back up and running around the 26th if I remember right. Just been driving it to and from work.

It's currently turned way down to around 16psi. Still moves out really well but isn't the animal it has been. I can't risk breaking it before I leave so it'll stay in "reliable" mode for now.

Need to get a timeslip from my 10.3 pass that happened before the engine blew up and put it in the east vs west thread for 2019.

And injector flow data. Forgot to post up pics of that. Basically he said that they were in nearly perfect condition before and even after cleaning. Bosch 210's are almost always a good injector and last a long time.

Do you still have that weak little piece of rubber hose connecting the 450 lift pump and sender hard line?

Imagined it would. Was looking for previously done 450 mounting setups and came across that one first

My final solution was a 90deg bulkhead -6AN fitting going to the pump for the intake walbro 450. Then I sumped the tank for dual AEM 400's.

Still no update beside putting miles on the car and enjoying it turned down for a while.

Here's the before and after flow data from the Bosch 210's. They definitely weren't the problem for the last motor failure.

I did swap out my old PAC 1218's for a set of Summit Dual Valve Springs rated for .600 lift. They have a higher seat pressure for slightly better valve control.

This thread will probly be almost completely dead for a minimum of the next year and possibly for up to 5 years unfortunately. I'll keep you guys updated if anything changes or I have the shop that is storing the car do some things to the car

if you've been running e85 in the car, be sure to flush the whole thing out with pump 93, run a tank or two through it if you have time.

Pretty much what I'm gonna try and do. Not sure I'll have time at this point. Turned the car down to wastegate and dropped the car off at the speedshop I work at. Currently has a half tank of e85 in it but will fill up with 93 next time I grab the car to do a little driving.

Ok so small update with no pics first and the next post will be a couple photos...

Like I said before I dropped the car off at the speedshop(Speedworks in Goldsboro) and it's been doing good.

First week of march I actually moved to S. Korea for one year for work. Luckily I have an awesome assignment after this. Gonna be switching to Nellis AFB(Las Vegas) I've lived there before but am excited to do it again. Going to buy a house there and am actually in the middle of doing it right now. Pretty excited to see how the wifes business expands in Vegas. She's a professional photographer and I am so incredibly proud of her and her work. Have a look at The Lost Compass LLC if you're interested.

Ok now for the fun bits.

Because our home sale from NC ended up making us some money the wife convinced me to spend some money on the car. She's a keeper 100%

I decided to go bigger and more efficient on the turbo. Ended up grabbing a VS Racing V2 Race Cover Billet 80mm with the 96/88mm exhaust wheel and dual vband 1.30 AR exhaust housing. The new V2 Race cover is HUGE.

Hopefully we will have some progress pictures in the upcoming months of the turbo and new hotside getting built for the car. Going with a 2.25" crossover and a 4" downpipe. Should let the motor breath MUCH better than before.

This is how the car is sitting currently at his shop. He still brings it out for the cars and coffee that he hosts once a month lol So it's really weird seeing photos of the car out while I'm not around but I love it.
<a href="https://andrewwurdinger.smugmug.com/Volvo-Project/i-x4GFFqk/A"><img src="https://photos.smugmug.com/Volvo-Project/i-x4GFFqk/0/76651731/L/20200130_155232-L.jpg" alt=""></a>

One final idle clip of the car on the old turbo and exhaust system. Man I really love this summit turbo stage 2 cam.

One big goal for the car is to run 150mph in the 1/4 and a very high 8 would be really really cool.

Small in progress purchases update. Since I'm out of the country for a year and the car is at a shop. Some safety gear is getting put in because Las Vegas dragway is an NHRA legit track and I've heard they are VERY strict.

Safety Additions
- NRG RS400 FIA cert'd seat
- NRG SFI Rated 5 point Harness
- Kaplhenke Seat Brackets
- converting 4 point cage to a 6 point by adding swing out door bars
- Driveshaft Safety loops

Also adding a deep sump cast aluminum finned trans pan to help shed some heat and going to add a temp sensor into the pan. Also adding a one of the biggest engine oil coilers I could find to help with the Vegas summer heat. Not sure the radiator will be able to keep up so I'm gonna try and help it out as much as possible.

Then the turbo and new hotside obviously. Going to throw a turbo blanket on there and going to have all the piping wrapped to help keep heat out of the engine bay and help keep that exhaust energy in the pipes.

Another update, work is getting started very soon on the new hotside.

More importantly though the car is now also getting a 1.80 straightcut Powerglide with a transbrake, deep pan etc. Got a killer deal on it and could not pass it up.

Hopefully 2021 will see this car over 150mph and possible into the 8's.

Great friend/shop owner sent me a video of him taking the car out for it's final spin before the tear down for the new 80mm turbo install. This is on wastegate(8psi) on the old gen 1 7875 billet turbo.

Can't wait to see what he builds and works on. If you guys are in the Goldsboro, NC area and need anything, stop by SpeedWorks and tell David or Jeff that Andrew told you to head their way :)

More thinking out loud for the peanut gallery.

2021 parts list required for an 8 sec pass(I'll add more as I think of it)
-8.50 cert cage
-Race Seat
-5 point harness
-Billet 80mm turbo
-GAZ Double Adjustable Rear shocks
-BTE 1.80 Pro Sport Transbrake Powerglide
-GAZ Single Adjustable front shocks
-Motion RaceWorks Tie Down kit
-Single Piece 1350 Ujointed draveshaft
-new 8.8 brackets from Giffins with extra Anti-Squat dialed into it
-Install the Double Adjustable GAZ shocks in the rear
-New 8.8 Carbon Clutch pack
-LCA shorten and brace
-DIY Adjustable Torque rods with heim joints/poly
-MT Pro Bracket Radial or ET Street Radial 235/60/15

Really exciting update for me. Buddy dropped off the new powerglide. Can't wait to get this bad boy installed.

The 1.80 first gear is going to help soften the hit after launch a LOT. It'll give the little 235 a really good chance at staying connected to the track down into the 1.3x and 1.4x 60' range.

Going to need all the help I can get with power delivery and this will be a HUGE step forward for the car.

It's not dead. I promise.

Slow progress from the shop building it. Life happened for the fabricator(a really good friend of mine) who is doing the hotside but progress is happening again. They also bought me the turbo headers as a Christmas gift from last year. I really miss working with these guys at Speedworks.

Couple more shots of the more completed hotside. Loving the way this is turning out.

2.25" crossover with a 3" vband turbine inlet. Shooting for a 4" downpipe out the same location as before. Hopefully it al works out.

Life happened for us. It's all still getting worked on by the speedshop but I am moving short notice to NJ from Las Vegas. So if you are in the Philly/NJ area let me know!

Goal is to drive the car from NC up to NJ on a "Roadweek" style trip. 450 miles in one day is the goal with no issues. Just fuel and food hopefully.
