Well I got rid of the boring story and cut this thing down some. I've had this car for almost 2 years and don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. Basically this is my daily driver that I've modified somewhat to make it fun and more enjoyable every day. I'll post pics as I do things to the car and such. Enjoy!

The earliest pics of the car are seen here in the PO’s project thread: http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=189434

Here's a pic of when I got the 244:

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMAG0051-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMAG0051-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

In September of 2010 I got into 2 accidents in this car, the first I was sideswiped by a kid on my way to class. He wasn’t looking when he decided to change lanes and just merged over and hit me pushing me off the road. The car wasn’t seriously damaged, but the very next day, on my way to my dad’s birthday dinner, I rearended a woman, learning the lessons that my car did not have ABS nor an airbag. Here’s the carnage from those accidents:

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMAG0076.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMAG0076.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMAG0075.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMAG0075.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMAG0074.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMAG0074.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMAG0073.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMAG0073.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMAG0072.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMAG0072.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMAG0071.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMAG0071.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

and the next day after rearending the woman, believe it or not right after this happened she still cranked right up and I drove another 50 miles before I made it home later that night:

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMAG0077.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMAG0077.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMAG0078.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMAG0078.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Jumped on the hood a few times:
<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMAG0079.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMAG0079.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I found an ’82 245 at a junkyard not far from my house and picked up the hood, grill, passenger headlight assembly, and upper radiator support. Then I spraybombed the front end flat black to go with the hood and because I think it looks pretty good :-P:

Luckily those were the only parts damaged in the collision. Amazing what can happen under 20mph.
Here is everything that has been done to the car and this brings us up to today with the car with even more to come tomorrow

This car is both my baby and my daily pain the ass. Something always needs fixed or improved and while sometimes that can get annoying, I wouldn’t trade her for anything. I love this car with all my heart and I look forward to years spent driving her in the future! And here’s some pics of the car over the last year up til today, enjoy!

Here's a few vids my SRT-4 friend took in August of this year:

and then this happened :grrr: so the t3/t4 is going on now :-P

and here's some random pics:

Today:
welded the 90+, thought it only had 1 crack but it had 3.
finished gasket-match porting it and opened the outlet up some more.
fixed some wiring on the OD solenoid.
cleaned IC pipes and couplers.
cleaned out a 740 IC and installed it.
changed oil with some Rotella T 15w-40 and put on a Fram oil filter.
filled transmission fluid.
sanded IC hard pipes for paint tomorrow.
washed all the glass inside and out.

Tomorrow:
make wastegate actuator bracket
paint IC pipes
paint 90+ with some 2,000* paint
install turbo with new oil feed and drain gaskets and new oil drain tube o-ring
run a 5/8" hose from PCV to atmosphere until i make a catch can
figure out why my right front turn signal is intermittent
***figure out why my right rear brake light doesn't work
finish installing my 5 point harness
touch up some bodywork
rotate tires
hopefully get a chance to wash my car

***anybody know what could be the problem with my right rear brake light? --> tested the bulb - it works. Tested the bulb holder with the bulb in it - it works. shined up the contacts on the plastic circuit board and that didn't help so i'm thinking either that spot on the plastic circuit is bad. maybe hardwiring that one light will fix the problem?

might be the bulb holder itself. They do get old and come apart. Try a different bulb/holder in that spot.

will do. if that doesn't work i'm just going to hardwire the damn thing. when it started giving me issues a few months ago it was intermittent, so i grabbed a bulb from a JY 240 and put it in and it didn't work at first but then worked non stop for like 3 days and then stopped completely

i'd just straight wire them unless the circuit board is in great condition. just not worth messing with

yeah it's simple enough to do. if i don't figure it out tomorrow i'll probably end up straight wiring all of them.

Jason, i have to say i'm excited, your turbo gets a new life tomorrow!

here's some pics of the exhaust my dad and i made, 3" turbo back, mandrel bent, flex pipe, single Magnaflow straight through muffler, fake cat from www.siliconeintakes.com:

and here are some pics from the last 3 days. we welded and painted a 90+, ported the **** out of it, and mated it up with a .60 trim Garrett t3/t4. had to cut the oil return pipe and splice in some heater hose as a *temporary* fix until i find some oil resistant hose:

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMG_3442.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMG_3442.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/?action=view&current=IMG_3443.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy254/B20_122S/IMG_3443.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

as for the heater hose, I know it's not oil resistant, that's why it's only temporary until i find some good hose. i won't be changing this setup until i have a header and SS oil feed and return lines. it's too much of a pain in the ass to take all this crap on and off over and over when we could've had the turbo off in 5 minutes on header and the oil lines off in a few seconds. so i'll keep an eye on that hose and when it starts to get squishy or cracked i'll put in some oil resistant hose.

here's the first startup, i think i need a new water pump :

small update: got to put a few miles on the car today, feels good so far. only problem is that i can't make more than 5psi of boost no matter how much throttle i give it and my NXS ebay mbc is blowing some oil out of the air hole on the side. this could be from the large amount of oil getting pushed by my old turbo or it could be new, keeping an eye on it.

as far as not making boost, i loosened the mbc so it should be at 15+psi but still won't go past 5psi. the guys in the NC chat thread have pointed me in the direction of my wastegate actuator arm not putting enough pressure on the flapper arm (not pulling hard enough on it) which could be causing the wastegate to open as soon as boost comes on. tomorrow morning i'll be taking the actuator arm loose and tightening it up some more. it was too short to reach the flapper arm when we were installing the t3/t4 so we adjusted it out quite a bit til it reached. hopefully shortening it by a few turns will keep more pressure on the flapper arm and keep it from opening so soon. i'll report back with the results and if i get it to work, i'll hopefully have a video up for you guys tomorrow. i need to get a decent shot of the car as it sits currently but it's supposed to be nasty and rainy here for the next few days so i'll see what i can do.

TB, y u no give me lovins?

tightened the actuator a bit and now i'm making 6-8psi at WOT. tightened my mbc a little to see what that does on my way to class in an hour. all in all a little bit of progress goes a long way

fixed my boost problem. i tightened the bolt in my NXS ebay mbc almost all the way in so there's only like 1 or 2 threads showing. i hit about 15psi today and damn this hooptie rolls!

i will when i drop off your header for sure. i got on it tonight after work and the front end definitely has some lift when the boost hits haha.

Hey Boost IIt. I believe I have found some pretty nice 120 seat covers, OEM Volvo ones. And a unpuntured lower rer seat complete in green. Is you & your father interested? BTW, glad ya got the 242 Turbo going

Going Racing huh?

not at all haha. i have enough speeding tickets. i bought it a while back and installed it once before and loved it but found out that bolting it to the floor can kill you in an accident so now the shoulder belts go straight back to the hat shelf, reinforced with some 1/4" angle iron. but i like how this holds me in the seat better and keeps me from slouching while driving.
