Machined sleeve seats

Do you have pics of the sides of the pistons after machining? I'm curious about how much meat you have between the crown and first ring groove.

Still need to finish up the coilovers so they can be ready for powder coat. Need to paint my alternator bracket and alternator case and reassemble it back together. I'm using my reproduction PS bracket and had it anodize black.

I do not have any pictures of the pistons out of the block after being machined. I added a few more pictures to the original post above. I also got this in the mail.

48mm ITBs from Jenvey with 60mm horns. The intake was from motor nord in Sweden, will be needing to clean the casting ports on the intake.

Sand blasted the strut tubes I still need to weld the rings onto the struts.

Very nice, is the motor running now? Any reports on performance.

I like your idea of using a cutdown FT piston there still should be enough piston to the top ring to prevent burn through. I question the 11.1 compression ratio when stock AQ151 is 9.7:1. Have you shaved the head aswell?

No, its not running at this point or had made any progress worth a update. The pistons are .012 above deck and using a stock head gasket to get the compression ratio needed.

I did buy two cnc machines a couple weeks ago, been focusing to get them running and my shop insulated.

After a few years from my last post a lot have changed personally. My last job I had back in 2015 closed down and was something that was bound to happen that last 6 month I worked there. While still
employed I made the jump and purchased my own CNC machines. The last two years I've worked on other projects car and non car related. The GT has been sitting the same spot for a number of years. I decided to pull the car in a do some actual progress. I ripped the entire interior out and the carpet. I know the sunroof leaks, I wasn't sure if it caused damaged from water sitting inside the car from the years sitting. Some surface rust under the carpet and some holes in the floor on the passenger side at the drain plug. I already ordered a passenger floor pan. I already DA the car but going to stripped the car completely. I'm going to take all the panels that can be removed to be soda or walnut basted.

I Purchased a new 242 GT. it's a 1980, I really don't care that it as butt cheeks for the spare tire. I don't have pictures at the moment. overall the outside it more presentable than my 79. The 80 GT has been repainted 10 years ago? I've decided if I'm going to get this project going is to start with one thing at a time and still having the 80 242 drivable. I've started with the getrag conversion.
I design brackets for the shifter and had them laser cut and cut a modified the m46 shifter to length. Im very close to have everything to complete the swap and then going in the 242 with the original b21f in the new 80 GT. All there is left to do is driveline and trans mount.

here is the new GT that will replace my old 79 242. I've know about this car for about 10 years. Finally the owner decided to sell it, I had another chance to buy a couple of years ago but she decided to keep it. I bought a set of c30 seats, I only installed the drivers side as of now. I machined my own coilover tubes direct fit for saab shock inserts. Been planning on the next step for the itb air filters. Jenvey does not have a backing plate with the volvo spacing so I'll be buying a blank template and machine out the holes with the correct spacing. Will be using jenvey throttle linkage as well.

For anyone that want to have a motor built in the portland metro area I do not recommend M&B cylinder heads in NE Portland. After having the short block assembled by M&B and I felt something wasn't quite right. The short block was very hard to turn over by hand and thinking the cylinder wall to piston gap was tight. I decided to have another machine shop take a second look. They have found out the bores were tight and tapered. Also It wasn't really necessary but I had M&B do a line bore of the block for the stroker crank. The new machine shop had found out the line bore that was performed was not even straight. I basically paid twice to have my motor worked on by two different shops.

Anyway I have made some progress. I had to repaint the block. The new machine shop decided to take the paint off the front around the water pump and front seal plate. Also for anyone that wants to use a penta 531 head you need to drill a tap the head for the coolant temp sensor. Also there is a hole for a coolant passage by number four intake port that needs to tapped with a M14x1.5 tap.

I powder coated a valve cover and polished the VOLVO letters. I had to wet sand the areas that were not taped off from powder coat. Then wetsand again with 2000 grit then polished.

I did purchase a air filter and backing plate. Also the throttle linkage from jenvey.

My coilovers are almost completed and will be sent to platting soon. Also a video of clamping in the lathe to bore the old strut tube from the spindle. Then press out to insert the new strut body

At this point when I'm ready I'll be removing the b21f out of the 242 instead of putting the getrag and doing the whole thing at one go. Ill be prepping the engine bay myself and having someone paint it instead since I'm not quite setup at the moment.

I know how things can be. I'm slow with projects. You're doing some wonderful work.

I have too much going on and try to take on too many projects. My goal is to have this done by spring.

his name was wes? the floor mats were personalize with wes's 242 GT. I threw them away because of mold.
