240 One last aw-70 removal question remove starter?

I have removed almost all the bell housing bolts holding the trans to the engine including the two starter bolts. Do I need to completely remove the starter. I have pulled it about a half inch back. I rather avoid messing with the wiring so I thought I would ask before trying to drop the trans.
 
Is it too late to say "Make sure the converter isn't stuck to the flex plate and trying to stay behind"? Don't want the trans to dangle off the converter snout, mangling it and breaking the front oil pump in the trans. :omg:
