Default 740 Turbo alternator bracket broken

I just had a weird one pics to come later. The giant cast alternator/ac compressor bracket sheared and my alternator was being wonky was how I found it. It looks like volvo pn 27186 is NLA. Is it worth having the old one welded? Didn't know how common this failure is.

These are a dime a dozen, find a used one. I have never seen one fail like that. What hit it?

Based on the fact in that crack there were only 2 clean spots it had been cracked for a long time. Who knows if someone dropped it at some point or what. Old cars are always a mystery.

Are you driving without a splash pan on there? Looks like a lot of corrosion got to that. I've never seen that bracket break but I have had the a/c compressor come loose on the older York compressor engines.

Yeah splash pan is on. The one that was on it when I bought it was all busted.

Our rust belt sure hammers the cars. Glad it was easy to get the part.
